I have used Rives Printmaking paper for making monoprints for over 20 years. I love this paper but recently they started putting a sticky tag with an identification/computer code on the back of each paper and it always leaves a mark when you pull it off. If you don't pull it off, it affects the print on the other side. Who's decision was this? Someone with some clout please get someone in the company to stop this. Thanks.

The paper itself is very nice BUT there is a huge(1x2 inch) price sticker on every single one of my 100 sheets. It is so sticky that it pulls so much paper off with it, that the spot can become transparent. Sometimes the stickers are on the back, sometimes the front and sometimes right on top of the watermark. Wasted money, wasted time, highly disappointed.

I was very angry when I discovered that each and every piece of what should have been pristine printmaking paper - Rives BFK no less - had a 3/4 inch by 1 and 3/4 inch sticker glued onto it with the importer's logo announcing that it was Rives BFK paper. Anyone with any sense would know that the paper was Rives BFK from the water mark in the paper - no need to add a sticker whose archival qualities are questionable. I had bought 100 sheets of 22"x30" Rives BFK. Normally the 100 sheets come packed together in one package, but these 100 sheets came in 10 plastic sealed sleeves of 10 sheets each. The importer had already plastered logo name and address on each plastic sleeve. There really was no need to deface each and every sheet with a sticker! Getting the sticker off without damaging the paper is very difficult. As I use whole sheets of this 22"x30" paper, getting around this imperfection is almost impossible. I am having to remove each sticker from each and every sheet of the 100 for fear that the glue from the sticker will adversely affect the paper and consequently any print I make on the paper.
Rives BFK is excellent paper. Dick Blick gave a fair value for the 100 sheets and delivered quickly in a well wrapped package.

I use this mostly for intaglio and serigraphy printmaking. The stickers I've seen on the paper recently have annoyed me. I want whoever is putting them on the paper to think about what they are doing, you are essentially ruining that part of the paper!

I love this paper but they are now putting stickers on each piece of their paper and it's really annoying when you have to peel if off. It unfortunately pulls off some of the cotton fibers and there isn't anyway to avoid this.

As a a mixed media painter I find Rives 280 to be an incredible value.

Nothing takes inks like Rives.

This paper was introduced in my printmaking class and when I had some left over I took it home to experiment with other processes. Of course it is a supreme printmaking paper, there is not a thing wrong about it. My favorite thing to do with this paper though is to combine watercolor and ink on it. At first I was against the texture of the paper because it is really soft and and the way they put sizing on the paper and all the individual little fibers would cause my brush to catch and the line wouldn't have those super sharp edges. All this did was allow me to use watercolor in a different way and I found I was putting more water on the paper yet my watercolors were turning out better. They seemed more luminescent and the layers really showed through and without stretching the paper it was able to take tons of water and still lay perfectly flat and unphased. The way it accepts mediums like charcoal and pastel also amazes me and has allowed me to experiment in formats I would not have on either traditional cold press or hot press watercolor paper. This paper seems to be the perfect medium because it has tooth yet is incredibly smooth to the eye and touch.

I ordered the white, 280 gsm paper, and it was better than I was expecting. The paper itself was the the top-quality BFK paper I've come to love for intaglio prints, charcoal/pencil drawings, and even watercolor (the paper allows for beautiful watercolor + colored pencil illustrations), but as an art student I found that the cardboard box it came in is very useful as well: The entire front side functions as the lid, so you can place art pieces in the box without having to worry as much about smudging them.

In addition to the price (which is significantly cheaper than the BFK paper in any art store I've been to), I would definitely order paper here again.
