This very popular, fine printmaking paper is mouldmade in France and has a smooth, absorbent surface. Rives Papers, made of 100% cotton, are acid free, soft-sized, and buffered. Rives is perfectly suited for lithography, intaglio, screenprinting, relief printing, linocut, collotype, and drawing.

Each sheet is watermarked and has two natural deckles and two tear deckled edges. Three weights available.

Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

Minimum Order — If our price on a paper is $6.99 or less, a minimum order of 10 sheets of paper is required. Your selection may be assorted to meet this requirement. If our price is $7.00 or more, papers may be ordered per sheet.

Dick Blick,
Please contact the manufacturer and compel them to stop applying stickers to every sheet of BFK. The stickers damage the paper and it creates a lot of work for the customer in removal.

Rives BFK has been my favorite printmaking paper since 1986. It is a very high quality paper. I love that it feels like cloth. When my students are ready to truly appreciate its high quality, I introduce them to this paper. They notice the difference right away. It helps them pay attention to how every detail affects the final print.

The paper I received was wrinkled and had several dents. The return service was excellent, but when I received the replacement paper it was just as dented as the first. Rives BFK is delicate- it needs more padding and reinforcement in the box!

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The paper was nice, but the sticker was not. It removes some of the backing and you can clearly see that there was something there. I'd recommend it, but I'd warn them about the sticker and most likely suggest that they go somewhere else.

Stickers under the Watermark issue

I ordered 100 sheets of the Cream BFK and all of the papers contain a "Canson" sticker under the watermark, which I have not been able to remove successfully without damaging the paper (even after rehydration). If this were for any other project besides printmaking this would be acceptable however for serious print buyers, these stickers reduce the value of the print.
I informed Dickblick.com customer service stating that If not able to get the paper without the stickers I will have to switch to different supplier and was told that its placed on the paper by the manufacturer and did not respond to my pleas of informing the manufacturer. I need suggestions for an alternative paper that can compete. I miss my BFK but will not buy again till the stupid stickers are no longer on the sheets. Each sheet already has a watermark, WHY do you need these stickers. Please post alternative to the BFK if anyone finds something.

I have used Rives Printmaking paper for making monoprints for over 20 years. I love this paper but recently they started putting a sticky tag with an identification/computer code on the back of each paper and it always leaves a mark when you pull it off. If you don't pull it off, it affects the print on the other side. Who's decision was this? Someone with some clout please get someone in the company to stop this. Thanks.

The paper itself is very nice BUT there is a huge(1x2 inch) price sticker on every single one of my 100 sheets. It is so sticky that it pulls so much paper off with it, that the spot can become transparent. Sometimes the stickers are on the back, sometimes the front and sometimes right on top of the watermark. Wasted money, wasted time, highly disappointed.

I was very angry when I discovered that each and every piece of what should have been pristine printmaking paper - Rives BFK no less - had a 3/4 inch by 1 and 3/4 inch sticker glued onto it with the importer's logo announcing that it was Rives BFK paper. Anyone with any sense would know that the paper was Rives BFK from the water mark in the paper - no need to add a sticker whose archival qualities are questionable. I had bought 100 sheets of 22"x30" Rives BFK. Normally the 100 sheets come packed together in one package, but these 100 sheets came in 10 plastic sealed sleeves of 10 sheets each. The importer had already plastered logo name and address on each plastic sleeve. There really was no need to deface each and every sheet with a sticker! Getting the sticker off without damaging the paper is very difficult. As I use whole sheets of this 22"x30" paper, getting around this imperfection is almost impossible. I am having to remove each sticker from each and every sheet of the 100 for fear that the glue from the sticker will adversely affect the paper and consequently any print I make on the paper.
Rives BFK is excellent paper. Dick Blick gave a fair value for the 100 sheets and delivered quickly in a well wrapped package.

I use this mostly for intaglio and serigraphy printmaking. The stickers I've seen on the paper recently have annoyed me. I want whoever is putting them on the paper to think about what they are doing, you are essentially ruining that part of the paper!
