Welcome to dickblick
This pure white mixing tray from Richeson is made of heavy-duty plastic that is easy to clean. The 7½" (19 cm) diameter tray features a large well in the center and 10 wells around the edges, with brush rests along the outer edge.
The tray also comes with a see-through plastic cover that allows artists to view and preserve paints between painting sessions.

ok for the price, but
The tray is sturdy plastic and worth the cost. The lid amounts to packaging for the tray and is flimsy and is difficult to remove without breaking, bending or otherwise damaging it. For something that costs less than a cup of coffee, I suppose it's worth it to have a small palette. There is an annoying inventory control sticker right in the center of the lid that cannot be removed easily without using solvents and even then, by the time you've scrubbed it off, the lid is ruined; Common sense was not used in the design and packaging for this product - inventory management would do well to put stickers on the bottom where it doesn't matter. It's a stretch to call this a tray with a cover... it's a tray with packaging that resembles a lid and they put a permanent sticker on it to annoy you further, but it's only a couple bucks so no harm done, right...
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Smaller that expected

We actually ended up sending these back, they were the wrong size and the clear plastic lids that came with them were much too thin and flimsy. We got what we paid for they were extremely inexpensive
And the lid fits!

The lid actually snaps on and off without tearing. I am a high school art teacher and have tried numerous products over the years. The lids on these palettes comfortably slides on and off the paint tray and the product holds up to the heavy usage in my classes.
Tight lid, easy to use

I wanted a porcelain one but those had no lids and I take this to class. The most important thing was a lid and this product solves the issue of going back and forth to class. I gave two of these to class members, too, as the cost is so reasonable.

Nice, simple trays
from San Francisco, CA
I got these because I wanted to be able to toss my oils in the freezer between sittings. I was worried they would be too flimsy for reuse and the lid would crack. No problems so far. They're definitely nowhere near air tight and paints will sometimes develop a skin over the top over time. However, since I'm just trying to conserve and I only paint recreationally, they're perfect. They're small, cheap and have a cover. That's pretty much all I need. Three trays have been enough for mixing and storage for some pretty massive canvases.

sturdy trays, but not so easy to clean
By Sarah, teacher
from Hope, ME
These trays have stood up to the constant use of a classroom type setting and many years of acrylic paint mixing storage drying and scrubbing for me. I have about 60, and they are all failry ugly after 5 years, but none of them has ever broken. However, they are NOT easy to clean unless you are using them for watercolor, or cleaning them out daily. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the tray covers(lids) do not fit well, are hard to put on and take off, and tear frequently. They are a nice idea, but are not executed well. They do work to keep acrylic paint soft for about a week, but they are not completely airtight. As an alternative, thick plastic wrap works as a cover when necessary. Ultimately they are useful for watercolor, but not great for acrylics.
