High Quality Gessoboards
By Zookie kinard
from New Braunfels TX
Comments about Richeson Premium Gessoed Hardboard Panels:
The quality is equal to Amper Sand gessobord. Richeson and Amper Sand has a smooth yet toothy texture that the paint easily sticks to. Richeson has more odd sizes to choose from.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've sampled several of the gessoed hardboard panels and Richeson is my favorite. Great quality smooth surface, beveled edges and the tint is a big help. I make my own panels and can save a lot of money but I can't get close to the quality and convenience of these panels. The only suggestion I would make to a buyer is to lightly sand or scuff the surface for better piece of mind when it comes to adhesion. The smooth surface is great for portraits but I use them for all types of paint genres and both acrylic and oil paints. The thickness of the panel is a perfect match for store bought frames, just remove the glass and the panel fits right in.
Xactly what I wanted!
from Bosque, NM
I gessoed half of my panels with swirling brus strokes to use for loose plein air landscape paintings. I left half with the smoother finish in case I want to do a tight still lifepainting or two. I think, however, that I might end up finish them with gesso as well. I especially like the light weight panels to take plein air painting.

LOVE the Umber Wash panels
By Upstate Wanderer
from Andes, NY
The umber wash is soooooo nice to work on I find myself working longer hours, spending more time drawing on the panel before painting. This is something I have never had the discipline to do before, so the umber panels are awesome and have improved the quality of my work and process. Will definitely be buying a lot more of these!!! And the price is definitely right!!!
Love these panels and will get more soon

These panels are excellent to work with. I love them!
Perfect solution for my student!
A painting student who was not able to get enough depth of paint to cover the texture of a traditional canvas, due to not having hands, found these smooth boards the perfect solution! I wish they came in more sizes!
Beautiful Painting Surface
from Tucson, AZ
These panels offer a nice, smooth surface with just enough texture for my style of oil painting. I am not a fan of the rough texture of canvas or of canvas covered panels. I can add enough texture with the paints.
Excellent, AFFORDABLE panels
By Anna Rose
I'm a professional artist who has experimented with many different surfaces, but regularly uses the most expensive linen and linen-mounted panels. However, I've been looking for something affordable but still enjoyable to work on that I can use for three-hour life sessions or plein air studies. These panels are PERFECT for this. They are the perfect amount of slickness and I also love that they now come in umber and grey tones. Richeson and Co. has got artists and their needs figured out!
My favorite surface to paint on
from Loon lake, WA
I am an acrylic painter and these toned gessoed panels are my favorite to work on. I have always preferred a smooth surface and when I discovered these I was totally sold on them. They are archival, acid free and easy to store and ship.

Beautiful surface!Unwarped panels, easy to paint on it. Very good prices! Could be a bit more absorbent.
