Intended for the professional artist, Richeson Handmade Soft Pastels are 33% larger than most brands, measuring approximately 2-3/4" long × 5/8" in diameter (70 mm × 16 mm). These hand-rolled pastels have a velvety soft texture, come in a wide range of vibrant colors, and are excellent for layering.

Choose from assorted-color sets — or sets created specifically for portraits and landscapes. Each set is contained in an elegant black box, with each pastel individually cushioned in a foam insert.

Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

These huge sticks are very nice to works with. They are very similar to mount vision soft pastels. very limited color range but great pastels. On the harder side but blend beautifully and are still creamy. They are easy to layer over and dont fill the tooth too quickly. Nice on any pastel surface.

Richeson pastels are great! I have many brands of other pastels and this one will be a favorite. I bought half sticks of a full set and they are big. The Colors are pure and bright and the texture is soft and smooth.Love them.

like the color selections overall, but would like if they also made a nice selection of darks - so far senelier wins on that count, but i find them just a bit harder than schmiencke, which i like. will collect more!

I bought the 120 pack which I highly recommend if you have the money. I live in Australia & use the pastels for landscape paintings & still life.
The only thing the pack lacks is some darker colours like blues, violets, & greens. The browns & reds are stunning!
The pastels are so rich & creamy. Don't be afraid by the thick size of the pastels, I still manage to get a fine line & edge with my pastels.

I love the size and the texture of Jack Richeson pastels. Their color selection is a bit lacking in dark and in-between colors but if you're looking for a starter set in basic colors these are great. Softness and blend-ability are the same as Unisons, I believe they are produced at the same company, because some of the Unisons cross-refenrnce numbers for the Richeson colors.
