I'm in college so I bought a french easel to make my painting hobby storable and portable. After I loaded my supplies into it, I realized that a few of my larger paint tubes wouldn't fit.

These little empty tubes were the perfect solution - I loaded them up with the paints that originally wouldn't fit into my easel and now I am able to fit them! It was a little hard to judge how much to fill them and I ended up having some paint loss on the first one I did. Overall, it was a good deal.

I use the empty tubes for my own color mixtures (a larger batch) espically when i mix three colors (for a special gray for example) that i will use througout the painting to unify.
I wasted a lot of paint mixing so many small batches that would dry out in a few days even when covered.
They work very well, however, I wish they were a little heavier duty. The tin walls could be thicker.
FYI. the larger size is VERY large. I wish i would have ordered all the smaller size. Also I think they are expensive since you can only use a tube once.

We use these for letterpress inks.
Mixing colors from the Pantone formula book is much easier with the ability to squeeze out 'dabs' in proportion.
They also save the canned ink from excessive scooping, which helps preserve the ink.

I use an ink knife to scoop, and let it drip like honey into the open tube.

One caution is not to overfill, and not to over-crimp as the metal can crack if it's bent too sharply.

Not an easy product to source. Empty tubes enable me to pre-mix colours ready for painting out of the tube. It provides consistent colour matching painting day-to-day. And it saves money by reducing quantity of 'spoiled' paint.

I've filled these tubes with grays that I've mixed and other mixed oil colors.

They're good overall but I had 2 of them break at the caps and had the oil colors coming out. If they were only made stronger.

When I mix special colors it is easy to save them for later. Just crimp the bottom with pliers.

These are the tubes traditionally made for art supplies. Some retailers are substituting tubes with toothpaste type caps, which crack. No problem with these!
