Welcome to dickblick
It's a new version of the traditional art school bench used for years in drawing classes. Caballitto is designed for student comfort as well as easy storage in the classroom. The bench is made of hardwood and plywood to provide a great workspace at a low price.
The upright boards and grooved seat can accommodate a drawing board or drawing media up to 24" × 30" (61 cm × 76 cm). The bench can easily be disassembled for stacking purposes when not in use. Golden oak color.

Comments about Richeson Caballitto Art Horse:
Although pricey it is just like the ones I used in school, very comfortable and although I bought it for myself my children are making more art and enjoying the unique experience of drawing and painting sitting on this bench.

FANTASTIC & EASY ASSEMBLY
By Sunny WaterLove

I LOVE IT! This Richeson drawing horse is ridiculously easy to assemble I am a 65 year old woman and it took me more time to get it out of the shipping box (4 big staples with a paring knife, so improper tool for the job) than it did to assemble it. It includes 4 screws (so you need a Phillips screwdriver) and the pre-started holes were SO ACCURATE that they screwed in like butter. I wanted to finish it with a marine sealer or something so I can leave it outside all summer long, so I was DELIGHTED to find out from their Wonderfully Patient customer service woman, Danielle, ( who I called 3 times with various questions about this over the course of about an hour) that the finish on it is simply linseed oil. That should be fine by itself, and she said I can just coat it again with linseed oil from time to time to further protect the surface should it need it. Also, there were no weight-bearing indications on Dick Blick, so I was a little concerned about that and tummy space. I can happily report that Señor Caballito (as I have named him) did not groan or cry when I sat my 264 pounds of body and soul on him. And there is plenty of room to adjust how close, or far, I am from my drawing board. Enough for writing----time to go draw and paint!I would not only recommend this to a friend, I would ENTHUSIASTICALLY RECOMMEND it to a friend!

Just adding more to the stable.
By The Rural Transcendentalist

The studio I teach in already has eight of this model, purchased thirteen years ago. All I am doing is adding four more in order to accomodate expanding class sizes. I'd expect these drawing horses to far outlast me, as the construction and craftsmanship, as well as the materials used are simple, clean and durable. It is also nice to be able to purchase something that is made in the United States of America. I would reccomend this product to anyone looking for quality, comfort, and reliability in an affordable domestic product.
