Welcome to dickblick
Experts agree that capturing and rendering the gesture and articulation of the human hand is one of the most challenging problems that an artist can master.
Manipulating these life-size models is an intriguing exercise in itself. They're an expressive, articulate reference tool made with smoothly finished hardwood.

Met my expectations
By Prairie Dan
Comments about Richeson Adjustable Hands:
I use the hand manakins as model for sculpting, when I need a pose that takes a long time to recreate or when I'm unable to use my own hands as models. As other reviewers note - for these hand models and others - the fingers cannot be spread apart. Also, the thumb doesn't rotate either. I knew this, so was prepared for it. The biggest plus of these hands is that they appear to be the most lifelike of any that I've seen on-line. I just noticed that the wood on the wrist of the left hand has split after two weeks; I'll contact Blick for a replacement. My experience with Blick customer service has always been good and I expect the same will be true this time.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear that there was an issue with one of the hands, and of course we're happy to help. One of our Customer Care Agents has sent you an email offering assistance.

Easy to pose!

I use these in my Etsy shop and at shows to showcase my lace crocheted wrist cuffs. They are quite flexible.

Good and sturdy!
A lot of mannequin drawing aids are not sturdy or reliable...but so far this one seems very weighty and easy to manipulate. Only suggestion is to make the fingers able to spread apart from each other.
Nice quality wood just a bit disappointing

The wood that the hand is made from is a good quality. My issue is that the thumb does not move much at all, very stiff. It can not be posed in a thumb like position. In fact, I snapped the thumb off moving it
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Nice design helper! Remember that none of these fingers open sideways (as in splayed fingers)- however, they do a nice job otherwise!
