Good Student Grade Pastel

Reeves Soft Pastel has a really low price even for student grade, but the quality is really good, and can be compared with artist grade pastel.
I think there are two lacks of this product: The pastel stick is producing powder so much, so your hand and your work place will very dirty, and the colors are not vibrant like artist grade, so it's not good for reproduction illustration work. But I think it's okay, since the pastels give you a good quality but with very low price.
Even now I use artist grade pastels, but I still mix this product for my work, and still love this product.

I love these pastels for elementary classroom use. I think they are by far the best deal and quality at an affordable price for the school classroom. They were very soft and blended very well. The students had great success mixing colors and drawing with them. I am an art teacher, and art program creator. I am going to recommend REEVES to all my schools.

I'm new to pastels and bought Reeves' set of 36 soft pastels to experiment. The sticks are very dry & the colors transfered to my skin & under my fingernails easily. Some of the sticks were such a tight fit in the tray that I had to use a pen to dig them out! The colors were decent but the sticks produced a lot of powder when applied to paper. I was extra careful yet had to constantly wipe my hands & erase smudges while 'painting'. This kept me from enjoying myself and I doubt I will be using these much if at all; I prefer the oil pastels. Reeves soft pastels would probably be fine for a kid or anyone who doesn't care about the dust & dirty hands they cause. Also good for coloring on the sidewalk or in the street.

I've tried a lot of professional pastels. for me this worked the best!!!!!!!! Better tahn any fancy shansy over priced pastel. These are great!!! this brand makes artist quality items. I only bought the 24 pack but I should've bought the 36 maybe next time!!
