Nice start for a Gouache
By Poly Christoforos
from Salem, MA
I'm writing this review because I'd been given them at my old art school. What I'd loved about it is that I'd gotten a huge range in the 24 set. But when I'd went to the Blick store this year, I'd loved it even more once I got the 12 pack.So please trust me on the review thing.
great starter set

Great set for a first time user. Wish it contained violet though
Ok for practice

This paint would be fine for a beginner/student. It is really streaky, hard to blend. I got it for my daughter who is already asking to move on to a better quality gouache.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Great product for the price
Great stuff compared to the expensive alternatives!

This gouache set was fabulously priced, but you do indeed get what you pay for. I've used Reeves watercolors before with no complaint, but their gouache is not great at all. It's not very opaque, comes out of the tube runnier than any gouache I've ever seen. This would be an ok set for kids to play with, but I wouldn't purchase it as an entry into learning how to use gouache, as it will leave you with a bad impression of an otherwise really nice paint. For a budget-priced set, I would recommend Royal & Langnickel.

Nice quality paint
from Brooklyn, NY
Excellent paint. I compared it to much more expensive gouaches and found very little difference between the two brands. I paint from life and from photographs. For this type of use I don't see any reason to pay for pro grade paints. It's better to invest in better painting surface (paper). Only downside is that these paints smell bad. I hope their fumes are not toxic.
