I'm a novice watercolorist and I had been using a plastic portable palette for class. Plastic stains no matter how dilligent you are about rinsing out your pallets and these ceramic ones are wonderful. They are smooth and the water wells make it easy to change from light to dark values. I bought three of them keep my pallets more manageable.

I prefer to squeeze out my tubes of watercolours into pan form, and have used a much-loved 16-well metal holbein foldable palette for a while now. Unfortunately my colour collection grew a little too large for it, and rather than pay out the nose for a bigger version, I decided to try something a bit more suited to at-home painting. After a lot of researching I decided to buy a whole 7 of these palettes, and I'm not disappointed in the least! I now have 35 paint wells and 35 wash wells, all for a very respectable price.

They stack fairly nicely (although I'm going to buy some rubber "dots" for the bottoms of them so they don't clank against each other so much), they're basically impossible to knock over, you can arrange your paints however you like and so only need to have out as many as you need colours from, and the best part is that they're porcelain! You'll never want to go back to plastic again. I'm certain they'll last a lifetime, and come clean in an instant. the circular wells are nice and big so you can pick up plenty of colour at one time... I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about them!

Think again! It's not too small-love it and use it on the butcher tray for plenty mixing space. Am presently only using 1-3 pigments so life just got real simple. I cover it with a wet sponge when not painting. Like using the rd water wells too.

For years, I've been using plastic paint palettes when mixing acrylic paints for miniatures and scale models ... and they have all sorts of dried-paint deposits to show for it. Recently purchased two different ceramic palettes (incl. this one) and they are FANTASTIC! Extremely easy clean up is the biggest advantage (even dried paint comes off easily) ... plus a nice working surface and enough weight to keep the palette steady on the table. Very pleased.

I bought two of these, they are great. I mix up colors all the times in these porcelain palettes. They are very easy to clean and last a long time.
