The unique synthetic fibers in the Raphaël Soft Aqua brush brush offer a fluid retention capacity equal to no other, holding twice as much color as conventional brushes.
The wavy, undulating shape of the fibers creates spaces that hold water molecules — in contrast to conventional synthetic fibers, which are straight and slippery.
The Raphaël Soft Aqua brush is ideal for watercolors, ink, gouache, tempera, and diluted acrylics.

Raphael's Soft Aqua brushes are my new favorites!
from Addy, WA
Comments about Raphaël Raphaël Soft Aqua Brush:
I'm not a beginner as an artist, but have recently renewed my old interest in watercolors. Since it's just a retirement hobby and for travel journaling, purchase of Kolinksy sable brushes didn't seem like a viable option. Then, I read about the Raphael Soft Aqua brushes and decided to try them - they are perfect for my style of watercolor and basic watercolor skills! They hold an amazing amount of water and pigment, and they retain their long pointed tip for detail work. They're well-balanced and easy to handle (my hands are rather stiff due to old injuries), and the short handles make them great for travel, as well. They seem exceptionally lightweight for their size, as their handles have a wide diameter - this makes them easy to hold and use, more like one of those "fat" pens designed for ease of use. These brushes also release water and paint easily for lovely, smooth washes, plus can be "flicked" to drop water or pigment into a painting.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Can a brush hold too much water? Great brush, fine point!
from Fort Worth, Texas
Comments about Raphaël Soft Aqua Quill:
Have not tried the $150-$350 brushes, but this Raphael Soft Aqua Quill does everything I ask it to do. The only (very minor) inconvenience is when controlling the water, the tiny wires occasionally become caught in the cloth or paper (solved with a drop of glue on the sharp ends). Great brush for professional results.

This is the best brush ever!
Love this brush

I will have to get a few more of these brushes. It's size is bigger than I wanted for detail work but I like it for my smaller paintings. I can still do detail work because it has a fine point on it even though it is a round or Fuller brush. These hold a lot of water
Kind of Disappointed because of a curly brush. :(

Comments about Raphaël Soft Aqua Round:
Well, I received the Soft Aqua round Brushes today. I ordered like 5 different sizes, I'm happy about it. Unfortunately, The size #6 is kind of ruined. I was looking forward for the size #6 the most. The #6 brush doesn't hold the point and the synthetic fibers are curly which is not good for a watercolor brush. I'm really sad because I was so excited for the brushes and heard a lot of good reviews. It's just the size #6 is totally ruined. It don't feel good while using it. :( (Sorry for my English)

I'm a beginner watercolor explorer and I love this brush. It is one of my main brush staples. Holds a point and gives a nice brush stroke.

I have been trying out synthetic watercolor brushes- one from each line that I'm curious about- and I think that Soft Aqua size 16 round is my favorite so far! I guess I love synthetic squirrel- I like how much water and pigment the brush holds and how soft and pliable the brush is too. Since I ordered a size 16 I thought the brush would be huge but it's much smaller than my size 14 Loew Cornell ultra round that received in the same shipment. It's hard to know the differences in sizes between brands while online shopping. But I still love this brush- it is fluffy and fabulous. I think I will try a Raphael Soft aqua quill next and since I like the softness of synthetic squirrel maybe the neptunes as well!
I am so happy with this
I love this brush. It glides well, and the smooth-matte finish of the handle feels lovely in my hand.

Wonderful synthetic squirrel brush. While it doesn't have the paint carrying capacity of my Isabey squirrel mop, it is the best synthetic brush that I have tried so far. When using it, I do not miss my Isabey squirrel mop as much. Plus, I am not as paranoid about about losing or damaging it.It has a nice point and large water holding capacity compared to the synthetic sable or golden taklon brushes that I have tried. Princeton Neptune is also pretty good, but I like the size 0 mop that Raphael offers, and Princeton doesn't offer a mop in that size.
