Welcome to dickblick
This hair comes from the Siberian and Manchurian Sable, better known under the name of Kolinsky. It is a small animal that lives in the coldest areas of these regions, giving it a very strong and dense hair, an ideal hair for watercolor. It has fantastic spring, snap, and color holding ability.
This watercolor brush has been carefully tested for professional designers and retouchers. It has a seamless nickel-plated brass ferrule, a short black polished handle, and a beige tip.

Everyone should have at least one Kolinsky sable brush, and the smaller ones are not all that expensive. Enjoy

I would buy these again and again
By Botanist For Life

I'm a botanical artist and I love them. They keep a very fine point, which I need, they hold a lot of water, and they last for a very long time. I love them more than the Series 7......a lot more.
Kolinsky brushes are amazing. My first high quality brush. What a difference. Buy at least one and see the difference yourself
Love my Raphael brushes

These brushes exceeded my expectations ... I bought numbers 4 & 6...I have other Kolinsky sable brushes that are also very well made but these simply blew them away ... they hold wonderful points and I can control them to make extremely fine lines in watercolor ...great paint holding capacity and extremely responsive at the tip ... from very fine to very broad strokes these are a joy to paint with... really glad I got them.

Best brush for botanical accuracy

The quality is worth the price. The brush retains its point for a very long time, even with extensive usage. The belly holds just the right amount of water for continuous painting without having to reload frequently.

I really like how fine of a point this brush has. It also holds paint really well so I don't have to reload it as much as other brushes I've used.
I love this brush
from Santa Cruz
This brush is extremely versatile. The extra pointed tip allows for extreme detail work, but the body holds a lot of paint.

Great for details or just creating a line that will go from razor thin to the width of the brush. Very responsive, I have brushes by the major premium brush makers and these are simply outstanding and quality and performance.
Wonderful brushes - prefer to Series 7
I use these brushes both for botanicals and looser watercolors. The point is incredible and the brushes versatile enough that I can use a #6 for almost anything but washes.
