It is a long wearing brush with excellent water-carrying capacity and surprising strength. The long-handled series offers an expressive feel to the artist. It is durable, easy to clean, and an extremely versatile brush for many techniques and media.

Great for blending
from Edmond, OK
Very soft, great for blending acrylic paint, which is why I bought them. Almost like watercolor brushes. The ferrules are tight and they do not seem to lose hairs. The large filberts, when wet, are almost like mop wash brushes.
Not good for oil paint
By 3 Eyes
from Oklahoma City, OK
This is regarding model 879. The tips of these brush tend to flair very easily compared to Princeton 6300F or adVinci 7023. The price is not comparable so I don't think the comparison is exactly fair, but still. The brush starts off good but does not maintain its shape well.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for your review. The durability of synthetic brushes for oil painting depends not only on the type of filament used in the brush, but also on any solvents used in your mediums and cleaning practices. Comments about Raphaël Golden Kaërell Long Handle Flat Series 879:
I appreciate how the brush was packaged. It arrived in perfect condition. I was worried because this was the first time I ordered a brush online. The brush works well for what I need. I just got into watercolor painting and this brush helps me produce nice washes.

Especial the larger sizes are great for glazes
from Stillwater, MN
I am a calligrapher and occasionally follow master calligrapher's advice about products. When it comes to brushes for lettering, John Stevens is my go-to guy. He recommended Raphael Kaerelle brushes so I thought I'd give them a try. Of course, I knew he'd be right...and he was. These brushes are everything a lettering artist would hope for. They hold their shape and give an amazing thin stroke.

No snap for Oils
from Homer Alaska
The brushes are wonderful, but I wanted something for oils. They do not have a snap that I wanted for oils.
from New Orleans
Been wanting to buy a few Raphael Kaerell brushes but they weren't available at Blicks for a while. Glad to finally get some. Read good reviews for the Kaerells.
