Raphaël's Kaërell is the closest thing to a natural hair brush we've found at an economical price. Supremely soft with a fine tip, it is excellent for watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting.
It is a long wearing brush with excellent water-carrying capacity and surprising strength. The long-handled series offers an expressive feel to the artist. It is durable, easy to clean, and an extremely versatile brush for many techniques and media.

Comments about Raphaël Kaërell Pointed Round:
I am a calligrapher and occasionally follow master calligrapher's advice about products. When it comes to brushes for lettering, John Stevens is my go-to guy. He recommended Raphael Kaerelle brushes so I thought I'd give them a try. Of course, I knew he'd be right...and he was. These brushes are everything a lettering artist would hope for. They hold their shape and give an amazing thin stroke.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Raphaël Golden Kaërell Long Handle Filbert Series 8792:
The brushes are wonderful, but I wanted something for oils. They do not have a snap that I wanted for oils.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Been wanting to buy a few Raphael Kaerell brushes but they weren't available at Blicks for a while. Glad to finally get some. Read good reviews for the Kaerells.

I've used a lot of brushes after 50 years of painting, and these brushes are among the very best. I ordered just a few, to give them a try (with acrylics), and will now order many more.
Raphael Kaerell Synthetic Sable Brushes

I teach an art class in the summer so good quality and good value are important. Great service from a lick.
These paintbrushes rock!
from Jackson, WY
I have become an absolute fan of these brushes. I tried a Filbert #14 and liked it well enough that I ordered also a 24 and 4. I find myself using them all the time using Liquitex Soft Body acrylics in my abstract work, and wishing that they came as round and flat. AND THEY DO!! So I'm about to order a number of them as I think I found a treasure in these. They are soft, apply that specific paint smoothly and evenly, they are super easy to clean, it seems that they'll last a long time. Highly recommended, but maybe try one to see if you like it as much as I do.

I got this brush for inking. It's got a good range and is very expressive. The bristles stay good and springy. It holds less ink than I'd expect from it. And not a fault of the brush but rather shipping it didn't have proper protection and the bristles are stuck with a slight bend as a result.
Good brush. Works as well as sable hair.

Comments about Raphaël Kaërell Synthetic Sable for Watercolor:
I use these brushes on a regular basis, for a synthetic brush it holds paint and water like a natural brush.

Easily my favorite brushes!!
from Portsmouth, OH
I have used MANY different brushes, of all different quality and fibers (including real sable.) But these brushes are all I want to use now! I ordered a couple sizes of filberts on a whim to use with oil painting, and I was blown away! The fibers are so soft, while still keeping their shape and snap! I was so impressed that I almost immediately ordered 4 more! I actually prefer these synthetic sables to the nice set of real sables that I own. Do yourself a favor and give one of these a try!!
