Reap the benefits of high quality oil paints while enjoying the freedom to draw directly on your surface, without the distancing factor of the brush.
Handmade and richly pigmented, R&F Pigment Sticks are comparable in quality to the finest tube oil paints. They have a lipstick soft consistency that gives them the same fluidity, subtlety, and durability of traditional oil colors.
R&F Pigment Sticks are handmade in small batches, carefully milled and molded using the finest natural wax, linseed oil, and pigment. There are no driers, extenders or other additives that are commonly used in industrial production.
Extremely portable, Pigment Sticks can be layered or mixed with traditional fine oil paints and mediums. They dry to a durable film, and can be used on any support proper for oil or encaustic painting. Small sticks are 38 ml, with approximately the same amount of pigment as a standard tube of artist oil paint, while large sticks are 188 ml.

R&F Pigment Sticks — Wow!
from Metro Manila, Philippines
I use R&F Pigment sticks for portraits. The colors are fantastic! The paint is so luscious and easy to blend. In larger-than-life portraits, it's as easy to use as putting on makeup. I like the portability and handiness of paint sticks. There's one catch, however. In warm weather, some of the sticks (depending on the colors) are too soft, like melting butter. The weather's to blame — it's not an R&F deficiency and I am able to get around the buttery softness by applying the paint with a palette knife or a slanted brush. The not-so-great thing about R&F pigment sticks is the price. It's expensive, more so for me because I have to pay courier fees and taxes on my end. But joy of using it makes up for the cost so I'm not complaining.

I LOVE the R&F Pigment Sticks!!!!!!!
from Morganton, GA
I got the Figure Drawing Colors, Set of 6 to use in my encaustic paintings for adding depth and accents. They are so creamy straight out of the stick. No more cutting away the crust like on another brand (wasting expensive material). These are perfect. I can't wait to get more colors!

Comments about R&F Pigment Stick Sets:
This was my first time using pigment sticks and I am very pleased with results. They cover a lot of ground quickly and are a nice combo of drawing and painting. I can combine them with traditional oil paints, pastels, and other media. I will buy more individual colors in the future.

R & F Pigment Sticks

I am a pastel artist and thought I would give pigment sticks a go as they have a similar application process. I fell in love with them instantly, though I have to work on fine details without the use of brushes. Maybe I should just paint bigger paintings!
Great oil sticks
I use these in my paintings. They are smooth and silky and are a good way to lay down a lot of thick color. Can brush them out with medium to mix in with your regular oil paint, nice if you're more of a drawer than brush painter.
pure joy to use
from boston, ma
these sticks are luscious and delicious to use. So rich, full of body and move easily over a surface of paint or even right on the canvas or panel. I love them. They are expensive for me. I've been painting for 30+ years and if anything can transport me to the land of absolute joy, it's this product. A special treat.

I LOVE these colors- the density of the pigments and how they flow on warm wax., move with a little turp and blowtorch dry! These pigments are just making me want to paint all the time .....Translucent and heavy - they do it all - LOVE THEM!!
from Los Angeles
Great medium but sticks came in a used state. Wrapping at the ends were opened and one stick even had indications of being used. I thought I was buying a new product. Almost called customer service about it but just didn't want to deal with the hassle. Other than that, great pigment sticks! Just takes forever to dry, even with the drying medium.
Draw with oil paint! R&F Pigment Sticks are incredibly soft, creamy, and are comparable in quality to the finest tube oil paints. The stick form allows for unique applications. They are easily portable and do not require brushes or solvents.
