Reap the benefits of high quality oil paints while enjoying the freedom to draw directly on your surface, without the distancing factor of the brush.
Handmade and richly pigmented, R&F Pigment Sticks are comparable in quality to the finest tube oil paints. They have a lipstick soft consistency that gives them the same fluidity, subtlety, and durability of traditional oil colors.
R&F Pigment Sticks are handmade in small batches, carefully milled and molded using the finest natural wax, linseed oil, and pigment. There are no driers, extenders or other additives that are commonly used in industrial production.
Extremely portable, Pigment Sticks can be layered or mixed with traditional fine oil paints and mediums. They dry to a durable film, and can be used on any support proper for oil or encaustic painting. Small sticks are 38 ml, with approximately the same amount of pigment as a standard tube of artist oil paint, while large sticks are 188 ml.

concentrated pigment highlights my encaustics
from Bay Area, CA
Comments about R&F Pigment Sticks:
Lush, beautiful colors in convenient packaging that is good for storage. Although I also put mine in a zip lock, so they don't dry out. I use them to rub into recesses I make in my encaustics. They really add dimension & pop.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

R & F are the Best!
from Syracuse, New York
R&F paints sticks are simply the best on the market and I have tried them all. They have a soft buttery consistency that is still firm enough for a fine lines even over wet paint. The other brands are just too hard. You can slice off a piece of the stick and mix it with other colors or alone and apply it with brush or knife, and the Colors! OMG so good , my fave is Kings Blue.

R&F is my preferred brand for encaustic
from Forest Grove, Oregon
I'm an encaustic artist and I really appreciate the smooth, buttery texture of the R&F pigment sticks. Other brands are either grainy or you have to peel off a lot of dried pigment before you can use them. And the colors are luscious.
I love this product
from New York
I love working with oil sticks. I can draw but its oil! The colors are brilliant and beautiful. The quality is excellent and the price is competitive with other oil stucks - all too high for me but alas... it's a great product and I recommend.

dried out and useless
from Superior Colorado
all but one stick was dried out and would not leave a mark. I ordered 4 total and only 1 was usable. Had been interested in ordering a whole set but will avoid this product.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with these Pigment Sticks. As with all oil sticks, a skin of dried paint can form on the exterior, and this must be removed prior to using. We've checked our stock of these colors and found them to be as expected, with a slight skin on the outside. If you ever have questions about using any products you purchase from us, we hope you'll let us help. Our Product Specialists are available weekdays from 8am to 5:30pm CST at 1-800-933-2542 or firstname.lastname@example.org, and they're happy to assist you!
Creamy and fun to use!
New to oil sticks and read this brand is the best. After trying (abstract work) I have no reason to try other brands. Creamy, great pigments!
Draw with oil paint! R&F Pigment Sticks are incredibly soft, creamy, and are comparable in quality to the finest tube oil paints. The stick form allows for unique applications. They are easily portable and do not require brushes or solvents.
