Nice for everyday sketching
Pro-art is a low end brand, but even so, I've found that their products are pretty consistently functional. I bought a small one of these for quick sketches as I don't like having unbound sketches everywhere. The paper is quite light, I place a notecard behind the page I am working on "just in case" when using ink or water color. As another reviewer negatively noted, it isn't watercolor paper...but that should be obvious as the description states the paper is 65lb (flimsy watercolor paper is 90lb, decent watercolor paper is at least 150lb). That said, it can be used with a light touch...but you are getting what you pay for: cheap, thin paper. The big plus? The cover on it is stout and even on the 4"x6" the pages aren't too deeply bowed near the spine (it lays relatively flat). The Pro-art logo is embossed on the back, but I just used a glue stick to slap a postcard over it and called it the front instead. There are certainly better sketch books out there, but something nicer could easily be too precious feeling to use and abuse...for me, a cheapie like this is good since it isn't intimidating. Someone with a regular sketching habit already well established might prefer to choose something more tailored to their needs, but for a beginner or someone on a tight budget, this isn't a bad start in my opinion. It's about the same as the quality of unbranded sketchbooks from chain bookstores for a fraction of the price.
Just what I was looking for!

I am a High School art teacher and love these sketchbooks for my students to work in as they grow as artists. The paper is great quality and does not smudge or rip easily. Blick provided quick delivery and the best price on this item.

Quality Sketchbook At Affordable Price
I love the ProArt Hardbound Sketchbooks and use them as a base for creating textured mixed media journals. They work well with the media I use, hold up to daily use (and abuse) and are great quality. Would definitely recommend them.

My Favorite Sketchbook Brand NOW!!
from Summit, IL
My bestfriend gave me this for my birthday and now I am in love with it! The paper is a wonderful white color that I love and it takes ink, marker, and pencil so nicely. I have tried sketchbook after sketchbook and never finished any. Now i have one that i would use forever. I would prefer the ProArt brand instead of the Moleskines brand any day. My only question would be, what kind of paper is it made of? I really want to know!

Paper too thin
Since I was expecting a paper that would handle a light watercolor sketch, I was very disapointed. There is no way this paper is going to handle wet meida of any kind well. Not even for sketching. Yes, if you are doing pencils I'm sure its great. But not watercolor. I have a Pro-Art spiral bound notebook that looks exactly like this one but the paper is much heavier and made for watercolor. That is what I was looking for when I bought this one. Not a hard bound notebook full of thin flimsy paper.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I love these
Unlike many of the comments, I actually really enjoy the very bright white paper because I use watercolors, pencils, ink, markers, etc, and my sketchbooks tend to take quite a beating. This paper buckles a bit but it's to be expected when in contact with water -- but otherwise it's fantastic. I like the thicker feel to the pages, and the smooth surface. And for how absolutely CHEAP they are, I think these are a steal.

Nice little book. The only thing I didn't like was that the paper is VERY white. I like cream/off white paper. Nice and small though, so you can tuck it anywhere to take with you. Not any texture to it either, which is a bummer. But for the price, you can't complain. Sturdy little thing it is. I prefer the Daler-Rowney sketchbooks. They're EXTREMELY cheap, have great paper with the above mentioned things. They also take a beating.

High quality sketchbook
from Nowhere, CA
Has a very thick and durable cover and the paper inside is high quality. The paper is a bit thicker than standard printer paper, so you can use markers and other materials on this with out it bleeding through as badly.I work mostly in old fashioned pencil, so this paper is a bit thicker than I'd like, but it's still great.

I am deployed to Iraq and have alot of free time. These sketch books are perfect for fitting in my ACU cargo pockets, allowing me to draw whenever I get the urge. The hard covers are durable and able to handle just about anything.
