I love these pencils for drawing in my sketchbooks, drawing and organizing my composition on tracing paper to transfer to watercolor paper. I use a hand held metal pencil sharpener I keep in a snack baggie where I sharpen the pencil and the shaving fall into the baggie when I'm out sketching. I use a battery operated pencil sharpener in my studio. I have used this brand for years.

I love these 6B Turquoise pencils because I can get a fine line as well as shade very dark areas without switching pencils!

I recently started drawing seriously again after a break of many years. I used to use these pencils exclusively. They were great. Now, all I can ask is... what happened? I'm assuming the new version of what used to be a wonderful pencil is the result of a tasteless corporate profiteering decision made by someone who can't even draw stick figures. All I can say is BAD CHOICE. I'd suggest avoiding these pencils if you have any expectations at all. They are inconsistent in hardness rating, filled with impurities and scratchiness, and generally depressing to draw with if you ever drew with these in years past before the great tragedy occurred somewhere along the line. Sad.

I was happy we could purchase as many as we needed and did not need to purchase the entire box.
