This is one of the best sharpeners for color pencils. The shape is cute but the caps can hold only the wood shavings of a couple of pencils. But as mentioned in the video on the Dickblick site, it works well when used after removing the caps from both ends and by rotating the sharpener rather than the pencil. Also do not try to sharpen more than 5-6 pencils at a time and sharpen a graphite pencil to remove the wax from the colored pencils. If used as shown in the video, the results are excellent. Great product and easy to carry.

I find this works sufficient most of the time. Sometimes the sharpener snags on the pencil as I'm rotating it, but overall I feel it's usable.

Well, it is sharp and does sharpen well enough--however, squeezing a rectangular sharpener in a weird conical shape left little room for the wood shavings to escape and collect elsewhere away from the sharpening blade. Result: it jams with shavings everytime I use it. I really like the prismacolor pencils but this is not worthy of their product line. I'll try staedler next for sharpeners or maybe just an exacto knife.

I really didn't like this pencil sharpener, it used up
a lot of pencil and kept breaking the lead.
I think a regular little pencil sharpener does better

I love this sharpener but you must empty it other wise it will break the leads off. I would say, you can sharpen three pencils then empty!!! The wood shavings get packed on where they go into the sharpener and do not fall down ~ is the trouble!
Otherwise it gives you a great fine point; the best I have been able to get on my pencils ever!!!

I purchased to use on my Prismacolor pencils. The weren't as bad on the verithins but no matter how careful I was it broke the lead and took out chunks of the wood. I am very unhappy. I lost alot of the pencil trying to get any amount of point on them.

This sharpener does the job perfectly and has a convenient compartment for catching the shavings. I wouldn't use anything else with my prismacolors.

I really have almost no trouble with my Prismacolor pencils' leads breaking since I discovered this product! My first Prismacolor sharpener lasted for years before I finally needed a replacement.

My only complaint is the shape: Can't we have something that won't keep rolling off the table? I'd like a triangular or square receptacle that would stay put, and perhaps hold a few more shavings so you don't have to empty it as often.

And it would be a help to me if the receptacle DIDN'T look so much like the cap! I've occasionally pulled off the receptacle by mistake when I meant to uncap it to use it, spilling shavings everywhere. Not Prismacolors fault, of course, but still aggravating.

FYI: The hole in this sharpener is not quite big enough to sharpen Art Stix for fine detail work. It appears I was over-hasty in giving away all my other sharpeners after getting this one... ;-D
