NuPastels have a rich, creamy texture that blends and shades easily. Frequently used in advertising layouts, NuPastels are stronger than ordinary soft pastels, which means less breakage and easier cleanup. Use them to create broad strokes and fine lines.
Each stick measures 3-5/8" long × 1/4" square (92 mm × 6 mm).

Comments about Prismacolor NuPastel Color Sticks:
I love these pastel sticks to complement my other pastels. Unfortunately I bought some individually, and they arrived broken although they were packaged in foam.

I enjoy using my new Prismacolor NuPastel Color Sticks. I wish I had bought the 96 box instead of the 48.

I use these pastels when I want more finer work when working with my soft pastels. The color intensity is perfect too!
I would buy this porduct again
they are smooth and sort and fine for portrait painting.
Perfect for the detail work
Lots of color variety in the 96 selection. THese are great for doing the shadow accents on type designs. Color selection allow you to match most all blending combinations. Do have to watch your pressure as they will tend to break as they are very thin. I personally prefer these ove most others.

These are great pastels especially for primary layers of a painting.
Nice creamy pastel

The Nu Pastel sticks are rich creamy pastels that work good for going in early in your painting to establish darks and fill "tooth". Then I go back with my my spend your soft pastels. Nice product.

I have been buying NuPastels a lot lately. I had a very old set of 24 that I rarely use. The new colors not only seem better, but stronger on pastel work. I use regular pastels like Sennelier for large areas, but need something hard with good pigment for the details, edges, and tight lines. They are replacing the pastel pencils in many cases, as the pencils aren't pigmented enough to stand up to the soft pastels. The NuPastels can.

I use these for background color so far. I'm sure I will find many uses for them. The quality is excellent.
I buy over 1000 a year

They are great since they are a semi-hard square stick and I can break them without their crumbling into four and get 4X the longevity. Then the 4 body edges make perfectly clean applications of rich pastel when scumbling. The round ones can't do this. The only imperfect thing is you have to remove the labels-but other types require this also.
