Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils are the most popular colored pencils we sell. Each colored pencil features a thick, soft core made from brilliant, light-resistant pigments, to ensure smooth, rich laydown and color saturation.
The colors are easily blended, slow to wear, break-resistant, and waterproof. Each 3.8 mm core is enclosed in a round cedar casing that is lacquered to match the core.
Note — Manual sharpening is recommended for these pencils. Clogging can be prevented in electric sharpeners by periodically sharpening a graphite pencil to keep the blades clean.
Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

Comments about Prismacolor Colored Pencil Sets:
I love the prismacolor pencils. This set is a great value, especially with the sketch book that is included. The price could not be beat anywhere else. Blick consistently delivers high quality supplies at fantastic prices. I'm a repeat customer, and am not an artist, just a person who likes high quality products at great prices. When I need something that is sold by Blick, that is where I buy it. I'm using these pencils to color in my new adult coloring book!

I use these pencils for my whimsical art. I blend the colors on an electric drawing board. This works great for me because I don't have a whole lot of space and it doesn't make a big mess. I love the vibrant colors and they blend very well.
Prismacolor, delicious as always

Although the price has gone through the roof, there is still no pencil I like better. When my students use them they are in awe.

Still one of the best!

I have always been a fan of Prismacolor, though that doesn't mean I haven't expanded my horizons and depend solely on this brand for my art. Even though their manufacturing has changed in the last few years and people all over the internet are beginning to "boo" this brand, the pencils still do their job in the long run.If you are looking for light-fastness as a canvas worker, you may wish to stay away from this brand, but as a person working only a sketch book which is otherwise closed off from light, they are just fine. I still use a sealant for the important works, but they can sometimes transfer onto the page it touches when a book is closed. Just be careful, the wax will move right after its laid down and something goes on top of it.
Not as happy

I still have some Prismacolor Premiers from decades ago, when they were made here in the USA. The new ones I've gotten haven't been as well-made. Too many have been wasted by breakage when sharpening. Sometimes I lose over a centimeter of unsharpened color just trying to restore a point. This indicates the pencil was not glued properly or perhaps the colored core was not centered properly. I have a few colors which I barely used that were reduced to less than half a pencil just trying to get it sharpened again. I'm going to ask Blick if they will accept them for exchange. May begin buying another brand if this poor workmanship continues.

I have been using Prismacolor brand since being introduced to them in grade school art class, many, many and sadly many moons ago. They have been timeless with quality and I can always count on the product to deliver the same quantity results in my projects. They are an investment that is worth it.
