Comments about Princeton Snap! Natural Bristle Brushes:
I bought the #0 and #4 rounds this afternoon to test them out. The ferrule is great and so is the handle. And the brush head...it started shedding and breaking hairs when I washed the gum out making the brush a millimeter short. The bristles are not keeping their shape anymore. The #0 is all splayed before I can even use it. The hairs aren't of the same quality as some were too stiff they make undesirable scrape lines when laying paint. I'm disappointed.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My students used these to block in large areas of background and they worked great. They are solid brushes for the price.

I purchased a small round Princeton Snap brush after washing it in warm water to remove the coating the bristles went poking out and not staying together even when you applied paint and is useless. I have to find a bristle brush that will keep it's shape, any suggestions?
Merchant response: Unfortunately, natural hog bristle doesn't generally respond well to water – the hollow filaments absorb water and often lose their shape as they dry out. If you work with oils, using solvent to clean the brushes can prevent this; if you use acrylics or prefer to clean up with soap and water, then synthetics are an excellent alternative. Princeton's 6100 Series might be more to your liking, or Princeton's Snap! in White Taklon would be a soft alternative. Comments about Princeton Snap! Natural Bristle Filbert:
I am an art student and had to buy this brush in a size 8 for my Intro to Painting class. So far I haven't used it more than a couple of times and because it's still fairly new, the bristles are stiff. Actually, they seem to have been coated in something to get them to hold shape, which is a little annoying because it leaves ridges in the paint, like when you draw in sand with a stick. Still, none of the bristles have fallen out and it seems like a nice, sturdy brush that will last for a while.

Very disappointed in Snap brush quality. When I opened one package, and gently touched the brush, pieces of the bristle broke off and made a "dust". When I used one for acrylic painting, the bristles or the round brush flared out at the end, making the brush unusable for the intended purpose. Bristles also fell out on the first use. I would never buy these again.
Merchant response: We appreciate your feedback regarding this product and are sorry it did not meet your expectations. We believe the dust you experienced is a starch or gum arabic coating applied by the manufacturer. A member of our Product Information team will be contacting you with more information.

Quite limp for a brush named Snap. Okay for scumbling but can't do much else with it (I bought the bright)
