Princeton has done it again, offering its softest and thirstiest synthetic ever!
Almost 20 years ago, Princeton gave artists a synthetic version of Sable that was almost the equal of fine Kolinsky. Today, it's still the standard for performance among its rivals. When Princeton set out to create a synthetic version of Squirrel, the company developed a brush that may actually outperform the natural version.
Neptune is Princeton's thirstiest brush ever, delivering oceans of color to the sheet. Featuring the latest synthetic fiber technology, the Neptune's multiple-diameter filaments are configured to replicate the smooth feel of natural Squirrel, with enhanced snap and resilient strength. Experts in natural hair have been incredulous that the Neptune brush hair is actually synthetic.
Princeton is proud to offer Neptune in a beautiful range of shapes that includes hand-tied Mottlers and Quills. The beautiful sea glass handles of the Aquarelle brushes are the signature of the line.

# 10 quill
from Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri
The finest brush on the market, wonderful for washes because of its ability to hold large amounts of pigment and water. It's fine point also allows detail work. I can paint with only this brush and produce a keeper!
from Bris, Aus
I use these brushes for watercolour and they're awesome. There are some laws preventing me to try other brands but that's ok because these are great and if there was a better alternative I wouldn't be bothered because these are great.

These brushes are very limp. I was hoping for brushes that had spring to them, but they just flopped right over as I was painting. I am not very satisfied with this product at all. I called customer service, and the representative told me that I could return them.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Hold lots of water, keeps a nice point, and is very responsive. The only part that requires a little patience is that this synthetic squirrel hair imitates squirrel very well - it does not have as much snap as one is usually used to. Nevertheless, it's a great brush if you're willing to adjust a little.

I've used a real squirrel brush and this is as close as it gets! Great Job, Guys!!
This product was used for creating watercolor effects on ceramic bisque as a "contemporary" Majolica glaze. The brushes performed very well as in watercolor. They hold their point beautifully. I am satisfied with this purchase. The synthetic squirrel hair longevity will be assessed 'down the road'.

the only brush I'll use for watercolor
from Palm Harbor FL
I can't say enough for how amazing these brushes are. Try them, and you'll be hooked. I use them for both watercolor and painting with ink, and I couldn't ask for a better quality brush. If you're thinking about purchasing these, just do it. You won't have any regrets.
The quill brush has a very smooth feel to it. The tip also has a nice point and it picks up nicely. I like it more than some of my other quill brushes. I will purchsase again.
Very comparable to natural bristle
By Clayton Harper
from Boston, MA
Squirrel quills suit my style of watercolor painting best, but they can be prohibitively expensive in larger sizes. The Size 4 Neptune Quill that I own has a tremendous carrying capacity, a wonderfully soft feel on the paper, and a terrific pointing ability. It may derive from the luxurious length of the bristles, or the varying diameters of them, but this briush is only a very small amount springier or snappier than my natural bristle equivelents - and that aspect was my biggest worry before purchasing. It may actually make this one better!
