Princeton has done it again, offering its softest and thirstiest synthetic ever!
Almost 20 years ago, Princeton gave artists a synthetic version of Sable that was almost the equal of fine Kolinsky. Today, it's still the standard for performance among its rivals. When Princeton set out to create a synthetic version of Squirrel, the company developed a brush that may actually outperform the natural version.
Neptune is Princeton's thirstiest brush ever, delivering oceans of color to the sheet. Featuring the latest synthetic fiber technology, the Neptune's multiple-diameter filaments are configured to replicate the smooth feel of natural Squirrel, with enhanced snap and resilient strength. Experts in natural hair have been incredulous that the Neptune brush hair is actually synthetic.
Princeton is proud to offer Neptune in a beautiful range of shapes that includes hand-tied Mottlers and Quills. The beautiful sea glass handles of the Aquarelle brushes are the signature of the line.

Love this brush!
Comments about Princeton Neptune Synthetic Squirrel Quill:
I have fallen in love with Princeton Neptune brushes, and this quill brush (I bought the #4) is no exception. I have chosen to humanely only buy synthetic brushes, but that doesn't mean I want cheap and second rate. Luckily I found Dick Blick for great selection and fantastic prices and in the process I found Princeton Neptune synthetic brushes. They definitely deliver superior quality. My painting style is mainly loose and flowing. My quill brush holds a ton of moisture and comes to a super fine point with just the right amount of spring for me. I now own three PN brushes in various types and sizes and would have only this brand if more options were offered. But I love what I have and I heartily recommend them.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I'm so glad I bought these watercolor brushes, they get more use than my $90 ones. Sticking to these, for now.
I like it a lot!
It is a synthetic brush but it as thirsty as my real squirrel hair brush, just a bit softer
# 10 quill

The finest brush on the market, wonderful for washes because of its ability to hold large amounts of pigment and water. It's fine point also allows detail work. I can paint with only this brush and produce a keeper!

I use these brushes for watercolour and they're awesome. There are some laws preventing me to try other brands but that's ok because these are great and if there was a better alternative I wouldn't be bothered because these are great.

These brushes are very limp. I was hoping for brushes that had spring to them, but they just flopped right over as I was painting. I am not very satisfied with this product at all. I called customer service, and the representative told me that I could return them.

Hold lots of water, keeps a nice point, and is very responsive. The only part that requires a little patience is that this synthetic squirrel hair imitates squirrel very well - it does not have as much snap as one is usually used to. Nevertheless, it's a great brush if you're willing to adjust a little.

I've used a real squirrel brush and this is as close as it gets! Great Job, Guys!!
This product was used for creating watercolor effects on ceramic bisque as a "contemporary" Majolica glaze. The brushes performed very well as in watercolor. They hold their point beautifully. I am satisfied with this purchase. The synthetic squirrel hair longevity will be assessed 'down the road'.
the only brush I'll use for watercolor
from Palm Harbor FL
I can't say enough for how amazing these brushes are. Try them, and you'll be hooked. I use them for both watercolor and painting with ink, and I couldn't ask for a better quality brush. If you're thinking about purchasing these, just do it. You won't have any regrets.
