Princeton has done it again, offering its softest and thirstiest synthetic ever!
Almost 20 years ago, Princeton gave artists a synthetic version of Sable that was almost the equal of fine Kolinsky. Today, it's still the standard for performance among its rivals. When Princeton set out to create a synthetic version of Squirrel, the company developed a brush that may actually outperform the natural version.
Neptune is Princeton's thirstiest brush ever, delivering oceans of color to the sheet. Featuring the latest synthetic fiber technology, the Neptune's multiple-diameter filaments are configured to replicate the smooth feel of natural Squirrel, with enhanced snap and resilient strength. Experts in natural hair have been incredulous that the Neptune brush hair is actually synthetic.
Princeton is proud to offer Neptune in a beautiful range of shapes that includes hand-tied Mottlers and Quills. The beautiful sea glass handles of the Aquarelle brushes are the signature of the line.

Love the Neptune line
from New York, NY
Comments about Princeton Neptune Synthetic Squirrel Aquarelle Square Wash:
I had been using the Winsor Newton Sceptre Gold II series when I came across my first Neptune brush, a 1" wash. I can not get over the quality of this synthetic series. They hold so much water and are still very affordable. The Neptune brushes I have are quickly becoming my go to brushes for all of my watercolor paintings. I'll be adding a few more to my wish list for my next art supply haul.Highly recommended!

Princeton Neptune Brushes
from Atlanta, Ga
I use fluid acrylics to paint in a watercolor style. I found the Princeton Neptune brushes when I was looking for something that was thirstier than the 3 brands of synthetics I had tried. I also wanted something with some snap that could hold a sharp line. The 2 brands of synthetic/natural blends I had used and the squirrel and goat hair naturals I had tried were thirsty, but floppy and vague. In addition, they shed quite a bit. And even though I take good care of my brushes, acrylic paint is hard on natural hair.I've been looking for several years and spent more money than I like to think on brushes that were lacking in snap, sharp control, paint carrying, durability, and hair retention. I have finally found my brush!Yes, I'd like it to hold paint like a pure sable brush and cost half of what it actually does. It ain't perfect, but it is far closer than any other brush I've tried. So much so, I've stopped looking for a better brush for my purposes.I use the flats(aquarelles), mottlers, oval washes, scripts, dagger stripers, and small rounds. As a bonus, the brushes look beautiful and feel good in the hand.
