Ergonomically designed to fit in the palm of your hand, Princeton Catalyst Wedges and Contours are exciting new tools for creative expression.
They're at home with all heavy body paints — oils, acrylics, and water mixable oils — as well as plaster, clay, and even food crafts. Because they're heat-resistant, they excel with encaustics.
Cleanup is a breeze with Catalyst Wedges and Contours — in most cases it can be done with mild soap and water. Solvent-resistant, they are simple to wipe clean, and dried paint can easily be peeled off their surfaces. They're also dishwasher safe.
Made of solid nylon, Contours feel natural in your hand with their comfort-touch finish. Their hanging holes are a big help when it comes to studio organization.
Offered in six shapes, Wedges are made of flexible, FDA-approved silicone.

Not quite what I expected, but still awesome

Comments about Princeton Catalyst Wedges and Contours:
I have the Catalyst Wedges, which are wonderful. They are large and soft. The Contours are a great price, smaller and fit nicely in your hand. What I didn't realize when I bought then was that the portion that touches the surface you are working on is hard. I bought them to use with Gelli Plates. My concern is that the hard edge may scratch the gel plate. They work well, I just need to be careful. They are a great size and price. I also use them to add visual texture to harder plastic surfaces for printmaking.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Does what it should.
I use for pottery. Only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that several are too deep to use on a thin vase and it isn't quite contoured enough to make impression and pull wet clay way without messing up the pot too much. Now that said these are a solid value and I'd buy them on a heartbeat again. I use them often. Just have to modify or thicken my case or pot. All said great value and you should buy them.
Love, how it fits in your hand and the results are fantastic.
Better than using a credit card!
from the Great Southwest
Over time, I have purchased all of the Catalyst Wedges and I am not disappointed in them in the least. For instance, I was using an old credit card and then got Wedge #1, which is similar in effect to what you get using a card, but so much better. It is way easier to grasp with your hand and control as you use it. Plus you know that your important numbers, although they may be outdated, are not printed on it, which was always a worry to me. I love the effect of each of these, and they are all quite different in the texture they give to my painting. An added plus is that they are very easy to clean, even with dried acrylic paint on them! I am happy with the purchase of these and at Blick, the prices are so much better than anywhere else. GO BLICK!!

I use the products for adding texture to wheel thrown as well as slab built pieces. Great product that holds up well when working with clay bodies that have a lot of grog. I have let some of the students use them in class and I would recommend this product to my friends.

The Mini Blades are great
from Port Orange, FL
I have recently tried several of the blades, wedges and a couple of the mini blades. The wedges feel great in my hand and are easy to clean. The tool I like best so far is the #1 Mini Blade sent as a gift with my last order. I absolutely love how it spreads the paint around and how different the colors look when applied with it compared to using a brush. I like the other shapes and blades I've used but, this one is the tops.

I have been using the w-06 wedge (white one) especially to get a smooth surface when applying gesso to a journal page. Ease of use is matched by easy cleanup. Wash it, wipe it dry and it is ready, no waiting for a brush to dry, etc. Love it! Other shapes are useful for the textures they intend.
