The Princeton Synthetic Sable Flat Shader Brush is a quality short handle brush for the watercolor painter. The special blend of varying diameters of synthetic sable hair issues terrific point and spring. It looks just like genuine sable, and performs at a higher level than other synthetics.

The flat styling makes painting irregular details and shading easy. This brush also expands the possibilities in sign painting. It's great! The Princeton flat shader also features a rich, distinctive gold ferrule and marbleized red hardwood handle.

Note — Brush sizes are not standardized. The length and width of a brush of a given shape and size varies considerably by manufacturer. Since fine art brushes are handmade, expect some variation even among brushes from a given manufacturer.

I bought one of these 6 years ago I think and use it constantly in oil painting to fan out glazes. I've even used it to apply varnish since it's so smooth. It's almost as good as new still!

It just goes to show that whoever coined the phrase "you get what you pay for" was a Blick customer. I have been trying to learn wash technique for a while and had held out buying wash specific brushes. WOW what a difference when I picked up the Blick catalog and ordered wash brushes. I now feel like I am getting somewhere with my new attempts. Thanks Dick Blick...
