An excellent quality short handle brush for the watercolor painter, Princeton's Series 4050 brushes have the best point and spring of all Princeton synthetics.

Apply and blend broad washes of color, or layers. The hair is a thick, top-grade synthetic sable. It holds more color and water, has more snap, and maintains a better point. It looks like sable and performs like it!

Princeton Series 4050 brushes feature a rich, distinctive gold ferrule, and the wash brushes have a clear, acrylic handle.

Note — Brush sizes are not standardized. The length and width of a brush of a given shape and size varies considerably by manufacturer. Since fine art brushes are handmade, expect some variation even among brushes from a given manufacturer.

I bought one of these 6 years ago I think and use it constantly in oil painting to fan out glazes. I've even used it to apply varnish since it's so smooth. It's almost as good as new still!

It just goes to show that whoever coined the phrase "you get what you pay for" was a Blick customer. I have been trying to learn wash technique for a while and had held out buying wash specific brushes. WOW what a difference when I picked up the Blick catalog and ordered wash brushes. I now feel like I am getting somewhere with my new attempts. Thanks Dick Blick...
