Charcoal is your friend!
By Art Mother

Comments about Prang Wrap Charcoal Pencil:
I tell my students that charcoal is their friend. It is a very forgiving material and it allows students to explore value quickly and efficiently. I work in a Title I school so price is always a factor. I appreciate the fact that DickBlick is committed to arts education and making the creative process affordable. Not only do they have competitive prices, but they routinely have sales and other perks that support the educational process.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

easy and fun to use

I found the paper wrapping a little difficult to remove, but other than that I am very happy with the pencil and will order again.
Great canvas, good quality and I inexpensive
from Lynchburg VA
I use both the premier and the heavy duty, back stapled, gallery depth canvases. I've haven't had any problems. I use them for both oils and acrylics. You can't beat the price for this kind of quality
just what I needed

Could not find these anywhere else. Thanks.
Wrap Charcoal Pencil
I hate sharpening charcoal pencils and these work great for me. I just rip off the paper and sharpen with sandpaper.

Prang wrap pencils

If you need or use charcoal pencils, the prang wrap pencils are the best. They can be a little hard to use because of the wrapping, although if you take your time with that, they are wonderful for drawing. You can achieve a full spectrum of shades and good detail with these pencils.

Using these pencils have become a staple - they can be used in so many ways, dry, wet, smeared, smudged. Really awesome to work with.
from Springfield, TN
I prefer these to the Generals version. A lot less hard spots when trying to lay down the charcoal. Could ask for better perforations in the paper but I don't think anybody has that down to a science.

Good charcoal, annoying wrapper.
from Fort Walton Beach, FL
The charcoal Is good, in a convenient drawing size snd shape. The wrapper is annoying (to me). Why does the wrap so often split before the unwrap is complete, and why do I have to get out a pen knife to restart it?
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Remember, you are the artist...
By Nicolas De la Hoz

These pencils (Prang) are of an average quality. If you combine "Hard" hardness with the "Soft" one, your technical possibilities will be multiplied. You can also use rags, paper stumps, brushes and water (if your paper is thoroughly fixed on board), and erasers to achieve special effects. They have small chips but this is not a big trouble. What is important is your enjoyment of drawing.I want to show you a feminine figure study and an a man with an airplane fragment made with these pencils, and the previously mentioned techniques.
