Comments about Possum Palette:

I love this palette so much I own 2 - 1 for transparent watercolors, and 1 for opaques. Not only does it keep the paints moist and concentrated, I've stopped having problems with molds growing on my paints when I've put them aside for a while. Also, the palette cups are pretty easy to open (unlike some others I've tried), yet when fully sealed (sometimes you have to press them hard to be sure), they can travel without leakage. I've carried them a number of times in my airplane luggage across country, and had absolutely no problems.

I have tried a variety of palettes over the years: the Quiller palette, butcher trays, etc. The problem I have is that as my repertoire of paints grows, I run out of room in a standard palette. Even if I have room, the new additions just go where there's room, not necessarily in color wheel order. Also, my taste in colors changes regularly, and I find I'd rather have something else on my palette but I hate to just throw out/wash away perfectly good watercolor paint.

The possum palette is the answer to all these concerns. I love being able to re-arrange the colors around the palette at will, as well as to switch out colors to reflect the particular project I'm working on. I am 100% happy with it and am planning on getting another one for acrylics as well as extra paint cups.

I have tried so many palettes, about 5 different types. When it came to this, I knew I had found what I needed: keeps the paints wet, a lot of paint available; fits big brushes; very portable and containers seal completely, no leakage; I can choose the arrangement of the containers for various paintings or trips and have plenty of the little containers that I bought separately for many paints. I know pigments so I like a great variety and with this I can do anything I like. Good plastic. No need to clean in corners since once the paint is in the container it is dedicated to that pigment. Great for travel as well as for studio. Easy to label; can include other types of paints if I choose to as well as liquids.

[...] I am keeping it for when I start serious painting, later when I have had more practice. I can see that it is a great idea and a great design for serious watercolour painting. For mixing and keeping the mixed paints for later sessions, it seems ideal.The area for mixing is large and generous, and the many compartments with caps for holding paint around the mixing area is great. I expect I can mix swathes of tube paint, perhaps with a little water, on the mixing area, similarly to the way an oil painter can mix oils on the palette, to get continuously varied colours to give harmonious blends. And when I have colours I like, I can store them in compartments, and label them with the labels, or perhaps leave them on the mixing area with the cover on. Later, if the paint has dried too much, I could spray it with water to restore it.Great idea for a watercolour palette.

After spending some time to set it up - I like the immediate availability of all colors but find that it takes a bit of getting used to it. I also have yet to see how it will "travel" which I do quite a bit..I also find it heavy to hold a an "in hand pallete" --but so far it's okay....again I just have to get used to it
