I'm in love with my new plein air easel! I purchased the full box model and am very pleased that I did. I can put all my supplies in the easel's box, place the folded easel in the included carrying bag, and set out. I had a little trouble setting up the easel when it first arrived. The easel's moving parts are built so sturdily I was afraid to pull on them to put them in position! It seems wobbly when you first set up, but once you get the proper splay on the legs it is sufficiently sturdy. This easel is going to get years and years of use!

I had an old full size Jullian easel that I used for 25 years or more. Treating myself to a new one, I bought this one. After two years it is falling apart; all the hardware is not secure in the wood and it doesn't seem fixable. It must be a cheaper wood than the old one and that is why the rice was good. Bummer.

This easel seemed to be a great deal until it started falling apart. The screws cracked the cheap wood and the easel started listing to one side. I don't know if all of the easels in this price range do this but there's no way to repair the cracks so the easel will no longer support a small hardboard panel.

After four years of watercolor classes, this is the first time I've used an easel, and I love it! This easel is easy to set up and collapse, works well on a table or fully set up, and seems to be very well made. I expect to be painting with it for many years.

I wanted an easel that I could set up in my studio but also fold up and put away when I'm not painting. This one fits the bill perfectly. It's not wobbly like some easels and can be used full size or as a table easel. The drawer, for me, was an added bonus. This easel is a beautiful wood and very well made.

The prices on field easels/french boxes seem to be all over the place, even within the brand. I got this one because it was recommended in a book on plein air painting by Lois Griffel. (And the price was great!) She suggested that the Jullian half box was totally adequate, and since it was smaller than a full box much lighter. SO far I've used it about 5 times. It is light but very sturdy. The box is holds all the paints I really need... if I think about it.( I'm using pallet knives so I don't need brushes, turps or medium. ) My only complaint so far is that it has no directions for set up. SO you MUST set it up a few times at home to get the hang of it. After that, it''s easy. Also Griffel suggest you carry extra wing nuts since they get lost at bad times.

I use this product as a studio easel even though it was designed for travel. I like the pull out drawer for convenience of storing paint tubes and brushes. An excellent value.
