The Pilot Parallel is a major breakthrough in calligraphy pen design.
The “Parallel Structure” nib consists of two parallel plates, allowing the writer to create much sharper lines than with other calligraphy pens. It can also create gradated colors by transferring ink from one pen nib to another, allowing two different ink colors to then be used from one pen nib.
Parallel Pens come with one black and one red ink cartridge. These pens can be used by both right-handed and left-handed individuals.
Refills, Pkg of 12 Assorted Colors
The assorted refill pack contains one each of Black, Blue/Black, Sepia, Violet, Blue, Turquoise, Green, Light Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, and Pink.

Ink would not dry on wedding invitation envelopes!
By Sad Day
Comments about Pilot Parallel Pens:
I really liked these pens until using them to address wedding invitations. The envelope was a hi-cotton absorbent material and it's a mystery why the ink wouldn't dry. I addressed all 100 envelopes, laid them out individually and let them dry overnight, 24 hours. The next day I noticed a smudge when I went to stack them and was shocked when the ink came off on my hand when I touched them. Due to time constraints and the fact that I had already stamped all of them, I had to come up with a solution to use the envelopes. I called a Blick representative; he couldn't understand why they didn't dry but suggested I use a spray fixative. It seemed to keep them from smudging, but when I received my test invitation in the mail, it was smudged. I wet my finger and dragged it across the name and it smeared like fresh ink. I assumed calligraphy pens would be permanent, but sadly I was wrong. I hope by writing this review I can save someone else from making the same mistake I did. What a terrible first impression for the wedding invite!

Bought these pens to share with beginning young calligraphers. It was easy for them to use and gave us the sharp and thin lines we needed. The youth loved the colors and the fact that they can blend them.

Awesome calligraphy pen

The good: I have the 2.4mm and I love this pen so much. For having a metal nib, which typically feel a little scratchy on the paper, this pen writes smooth as silk. It does use a good deal of ink but the flow is flawless and the cartridges are very affordable if bought online. The bad: The worst design flaw on this pen is the cap. I like that it screws on and off because the ink in these pens flows quite readily if pressed against anything, and with this cap, I know it's secure in a purse or pocket. However, I don't like that the cap is not designed to fit on the end of the pen while in use. You literally have to just lay it down on the table next to you and pray it doesn't go missing. That's just silly. It should be able to fit on the end of the pen. Otherwise, I absolutely love it!
I love them all. I need to buy more of them!

This is the pen (Size 2.4) I've used for teaching Beginner Italic classes for a few years. I started with felt tip pens but they lose their edges quickly & hairlines are then impossible. I use (and LOVE) all the other sizes for personal work - impossible to wear out and easy to thoroughly clean! Being able to draw fine lines with just the corner of the nib is a huge plus for creativity, corrections and style.

Until I saw this at a friend's studio, I don't think I quite understood that it's a pen that looks a bit like a brush in the photo. Maybe you should feature a little ink line coming from the various pen sizes, or even a brief video. Color mixing is possible with these pens....quite nice!

I've used many calligraphy foundtain pens over the years, and these compare well. They produce clear, sharp lines and have a good "feel" to them. Am still experimenting with the inks, which seem OK. It's really too early to tell about other qualities, but so far am pleased.
Speeds up the Calligraphy learning curve
I bought three sizes of these pens and immediately I discovered they solved many of my calligraphy problems -- I just started learning and was using various dip pins with various nibs. Dip pens are very challenging and take tons of time to learn to load up with ink, the amount of pressure etc... These pens will let you create some nice lettering almost right out of the box, cutting the learning curve. They do however have some of their own learning issues. Instead of varying the pressure as you would with a dip pen to narrow or widen a line, these pens require you to be conscious of the angle of the tip to narrow or widen lines of complicated lettering; still this is easier for me. I wish the price were a bit less.
Great Pens- would recommend
