I am an artist and a caligrapher. I just love these pens. The ease of use and the brilliant colors are fantastic. I not only use these in my caligraphy but also in my drawing.I can incorporate different colors and thin and thick lines with this one pen. It is such a dynamic pen. I ordered 2 of each pen for use in my artistic drawings for extra ink colors. It is so very easy to use in my caligraphy. I love it. A must buy for any artist, caligrapher or just to write with. Also great for doodling in my art journal. Simply love these pens.Never have they clogged in the year that I have had them, and very easy to change the cartridge once empty. Can't say enough great things about this pen.

This pen set is worst I have ever tried. The ink cartridge is hard to get started, and the ink is uncontrollable. There is no smooth flow, and the nib is very scratchy on paper, which prevents smooth lettering. The ink also feathers very bad on the paper. I bought it because it was cheap and the cartridge refill was cheap, so I thought I'd give it a try. I wanted to like this pen so badly, but I will be returning this product. Impossible for professionals, and discouraging for beginners.

I'm relearning calligraphy after several years hiatus. I wasn't sure what kind of pens were on the market. Did a search, and these pens came up. I must say, I am enjoying them. The pens come with everything you need to get started. I'm sure I'll use them for years to come.

The only reason I didn't give this "best in its category" is I am unfamiliar with the others. I've used dip pens in the past and remember having to constantly dip. Very frustrating!
I almost did not purchase these after reading the negative review of the ink not drying. But after checking with a friend who swears by them I went ahead. She did say maybe it was the humidity or paper being used. These are a dream to write with and my ink dried instantly. Maybe my only negative quip would be that the instructions are itty bitty but that's what reading glasses are for ;)

I practice calligraphy as a hobby, and I thought this was a pretty affordable pen. It's also rather like buying two pens in one, because you can write on its side for a thinner line. I'm very happy with its performance and construction -- it has spent a lot of time in my backpack and survived, and hasn't spilled or leaked anywhere. It also comes with some cleaning equipment, and has a fun design.

Based on your reviews decided to purcase all four pens. Couldn't believe how great they were as anything here in Australia not easy to locate. I'm afraid living in country areas makes it hard for artists to source materials and online purchases is a god send. Have been buying from Dick Blick now for a while and have always had excellent service and quality products and unlimited choice...just like being a kid in a lolly shop!

This is a very versatile pen for those interested in the Italic and contemporary calligraphic *hands (*oppose to font). It's also great in that you can blend colors from one parallel pen to another and create variegated colors in your lettering.

Good price, however better with the discount!
