Welcome to dickblick
This traveling set from Pentalic helps watercolor artists capture quick studies, notes, and impressions, either in the studio or in the field.
Pentalic's Aqua Journal is bound in a landscape format with six signatures, so the book lays flat when open. It features Pentalic's "signature" ribbon marker, an elastic band closure, a rear storage pocket, and an attractive Midnight Blue cover that is manufactured in Europe. The journal measures 8" × 5" (20 cm × 13 cm) and contains 24 pages of 140 lb (300 gsm), pH-neutral watercolor paper that is also the perfect weight for journaling.
An elastic brush holder positioned at the top of the book holds a Round Protege White Nylon Travel Brush, Size 7.

Perfect size excellent quality watercolor journal for urban sketching or plein aire painting. Lightweight packs easily. I am very happy with product purchase. Also included a rather nice paintbrush. Arrived timely in excellent condition.
Best sketchbook for pen & watercolor!
from Outer Banks
This is about the 10th sketchbook I've tried, and I've finally found one I love! It is hard to find a sketchbook that will work for both ink (pen) and watercolor. This paper easily handles juicy washes, calligraphy and felt tip pens, and even dip pens and inks! I have found the paper to be a bit thirsty which makes it harder to rub or lift out even nonstaining pigments, but I can deal with it by working a bit wetter than I normally would.Pentalic is coming out with larger sizes and more formats this fall (2016), so Blick, please carry those! And I could sure use an option without the travel brush also. (Hint hint! :)

Fits in your pocketbook, backpack, or briefcase!

I love to make a preliminary sketch, and watercolor painting, on-site to get the richest, most lively results in my final piece. This pad and small, collapsible, travel brush is the perfect option! I will add this to my travel paint set when I go from NH to WY to visit family...there's a lot to paint out there! It also gives me a permanent record of my travel experiences.

Excellent quality book
By Oakland Doug
from Oakland CA
Great for quick sketches and studies. Good quality paper and excellent brush. I just hope that the book will be available without the brush, because I don't want to have to pay for a brush that I already have.
Great paper, great brush!

These journals have the best watercolor of any I have tried, wonderful paper, truly glorious for watercolor painting. The Connoisseur Protege white nylon travel brush that comes with this combo package is delightful. It's beefy enough for broad strokes, holds a great point for detail work, and is nice and springy without being excessively stiff. The handle is slimmer than some others, sightly fatter than the size of a pencil, which I find nice when I hold it.I have used these journals before but didn' have one of these nice brushes until now. I like it quite a bit.

Great (watercolor/sketching) Journal
I love this little journal which I use for watercolor and happy that Dick Blick offers it.- Very good paper quality- Accepts watercolor nicely- Book lays flat when opened- The accompanied (#7 round) travel paint brush is a bonus :)It would be nice if Pentalic offered a larger journal with the same paper quality (140 lb). They do offer 130 lb paper in their 'Nature Sketch Book' in larger sizes. It's paper is nice too, but just not quite as good their little 'Journal'. Still, I don't think you would be disappointed with that book either.Happy Painting, Drawing, Sketching to all!
I would definitely buy this again!

The price on sale was very good. Layout is great with excellent paper quality for watercolors. Pages lay flat and both sides can be used. I wish this were available in stores to avoid high shipping fees. However, I would still buy it again at that price.
Great Quality Journal
The paper quality is excellent. I can watercolor on both sides of the paper very nicely. So far I can not think of anything negative about it....but I am only two pages in. Was so thrilled with the thickness of this paper that I wanted to look to see if there is a larger journal too....then decided to leave this review. The travel brush that came with it is very nice also. I cannot say though how well it will hold up with use since I have only begun using it.

Best watercolor journal
By C Wendt
This book is the only one I have found that has the 140lb paper which is perfect for multiple washes of color. The pen/brush holder is nice and the watercolor travel brush is handy.
