Welcome to dickblick
Pebeo Vitrea 160 is part of a new generation of thermo-hardening, transparent, non-toxic, water-based paints specifically designed for use on glass. Vitrea 160 can be applied to glassware, vases, lamps, and even an entire window surface. The Vitrea 160 line includes frosted paints for an etched-glass look, and mediums that allow for reproduction of crackled, iridescent and frosted glass effects.
In contrast with Pebeo Porcelaine 150, the Vitrea 160 colors offer more of a blown glass or fused glass look. Colors are runnier than Porcelaine 150, and they mix easily. Whereas Porcelaine 150 colors are solid, even single colors of Vitrea 160 often seem to have many swirling colors inside. Porcelaine 150 and Vitrea 160 heat set at different temperatures and are not intermixable.
Pebeo recommends that you use a soft, natural fiber brush, such as a squirrel hair brush or a red sable watercolor brush, to apply Vitrea 160. A soft brush will have the right consistency for the paint, and is less likely to leave brush marks.
Individual colors are packaged in 45 ml (1.5 oz) bottles. Vitrea 160 mediums and Vitrea 160 outliners are packaged in 20 ml (.68 oz) tubes. Vitrea 160 Paint Markers are also available, in a more limited range of colors.
Frosted Medium can be used to create an infinite variety of light and shadow effects. Use it alone to create a frosted or etched effect — or mix it with gloss colors to lighten them and make them appear frosted, all without changing the colors’ technical characteristics.
Used to lighten Vitrea 160 colors and to add gloss effects without changing the colors’ technical characteristics, Gloss Medium can be used to create an infinite variety of light and shadow effects. When used on its own, it is almost invisible after application, ideal for making inclusions.
When mixed with Vitrea 160 colors, Iridescent Medium produces iridescent colors that glimmer and change colors when the light hits them.
Use this medium to thin Vitrea 160 colors without lessening their durability.

Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.
Once dried and baked for 40 minutes at 325°F (163°C), the paints are permanent and dishwasher safe.
Avoid use of strong, abrasive cleaners such as steel scouring pads, and sharp cutting implements such as stainless steel knives, which may leave scratches on the surface and make it more difficult to clean.
To heat set a finished piece, place it in a 325°F (163°C) oven for 40 minutes. Since many vitreous and ceramic materials cannot withstand sudden changes in temperature, we recommend that you place your piece in a room temperature oven and allow it to warm up with the oven. After 40 minutes, turn the oven off and allow it to cool back to room temperature gradually.
Not recommended for use on surfaces that come in contact with food.

Painting with the Laser
from Colorado Springs, CO
We were looking for something to add some additional zap to glasses that we have been doing for customers. So far our tests have gone very well but we need to work with this product more to find its true limits and uses.
from Southern California
The bottle is small but the paint spread well. I just used it today so I am not sure about the durability. I have to let it dry 24 hours and then bake it.
I use this product on wine classes and coffee mugs. Not only for painting but stenciling. Bake as they suggest to make dishwasher safe. Have absolutely no problems. Love this product and would purchase again

My church art team is using these paints to make faux stained glass windows. The colors are gorgeous. They blend, mix and layer beautifully. Clean up is easy. I absolutely love them.

I have been using this product for over 15 years. Nothing on the market (as far as I have found) comes close to this. It really is dishwasher safe! Over and over again. The look of this paint is not like anything I have found. It mixes well once you have the feel for the color strengths - example:yellow is a very strong color and needs to be used in small amounts. I cannot even think of a way to improve it.

Best Glass Paint
By Jackie the crafter
from Brentwood, CA
I am painting mason jars to use as vases. It is nice because just follow the directions & you can put the jars in the dishwasher & the paint stays on the jar with no problem.I also hand painted on flowers & guests names on to smaller mason jars for my daughter's barn wedding & got so may compliments. Everyone got to take their jars home & we have had many people say they are still using the jars to drink out of since the wedding in June 2014.

Fantastic glass paint
By Rosebud at the lake
My sister and I use this paint to create season glass vases and bottles that we light from within with string lights or battery operated "look like real candles". They turn out great. A very easy product to use. Lots of possibilities. We have plan for more painted glass items. Fun!

From first use, probably a great product.

I have used this product once -- and the difficulty encountered was very probably user error. A first-time user needs to practice on some glass throw-aways, because it seems easy to use too much of this product (like two coatings)which obscures the transparency of the product. With a little practice, I would think this product would be excellent for painting on glass. It does bake to a very hard surface (but I did use too much to get exactly what I wanted, and the glass was not throw-away).
Pebeo Vitrea 160 is a waterbased, non-toxic paint developed to mimic the look of stained glass, blown glass
and fused glass without the dangers of working with those materials. All you need to make the paint permanent is a
household oven. This colorful glass paint is offered in 20 transparent colors and 10 frosted colors. Watch this demo
showing various techniques using Pebeo Vitrea paint and dimensional outliners.
