Pebeo Porcelaine 150 Paints can be applied to almost any heat-stable surface, including porcelain, crockery, terra-cotta, metal, ceramic, and glass. Allow painted items to dry for 24 hours, then bake them in your home oven at 300°F for 35 minutes for a finish that's as permanent as fired enamel.
With a range of more than 50 lightfast colors, these professional waterbased paints blend beautifully with one another and thin with water or medium. Once fired, Porcelaine 150 colors are safe for common detergents and solvents, the dishwasher (top rack), and outdoor use. The paints are non-toxic but not recommended for use on surfaces that come in contact with food.
Porcelaine 150 colors are not intermixable with Pebeo Vitrea 160, and they heat set at different temperatures. Whereas Porcelaine 150 colors are solid, Vitrea 160 colors achieve more of a fused glass or blown glass look.
Pebeo recommends that you use a soft, natural fiber brush, such as a squirrel hair quill or a red sable watercolor brush, to apply Porcelaine 150. A soft brush will have the right consistency for the paint, and is less likely to leave brush marks.
Individual colors and mediums are packaged in 1.5 oz (45 ml) bottles. Porcelaine 150 outliners are packaged in 0.68 oz (20 ml) squeeze tubes.
Many of the transparent and semi-transparent colors, as shown in the color charts, appear quite dark. Names of colors often reflect the special qualities that colors take on when light passes through.
Mediums — Matte and Gloss mediums modify the appearance of the finished surface.
Outliners — Available in selected colors, Porcelaine 150 outliners have a thicker consistency, creating a raised surface. They are packaged in 0.68 oz (20 ml) squeeze tubes.
Pebeo Porcelaine 150 Chalkboard Black paint allows you to design and create a real chalkboard on any slick, non-porous item, including china, porcelain, ceramic, metal, and more.
Simply apply the paint to the surface of the piece, allow it to dry for 24 hours, and bake it in a conventional oven for 30 minutes at 300°F. Chalkboard Black dries to a hard, flat, black matte finish that may be written on with chalk. When the message has been "delivered" to your satisfaction, simply erase the old message and write a new one!
Chalkboard Black paint is great for decorating coffee mugs, or even dinner plates. Not only does your artwork provide daily fun at mealtimes, Pebeo Chalkboard Paint is permanent, microwave oven-safe, and dishwasher-resistant after baking.

Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.
Once baked, Porcelaine 150 paints are permanent and dishwasher safe.
To heat set a finished piece, wait for the paint to dry completely. Place it in a 300°F (149°C) oven for 35 minutes. Since many vitreous and ceramic materials cannot withstand sudden changes in temperature, we recommend that you place your piece in a room temperature oven and allow it to warm up with the oven. After 35 minutes, turn the oven off and allow it to cool back to room temperature gradually.
Avoid use of strong, abrasive cleaners such as steel scouring pads, and sharp cutting implements such as stainless steel knives, which may leave scratches on the surface and make it more difficult to clean.
Porcelaine 150 is not recommended for use on surfaces that come in contact with food.

We use this paint for Father's Day gifts at school, painting coffee mugs for the Dads. The colors and quality of the paint are wonderful It is an easy bake on paint for ceramic surfaces. I've tried other bake on paints but this is the best.

Having Fun with These!
I purchased 2 workboxes and some other colors and liners to try out.PROsThey are all mixable, even the metallics. There is a decent color palette variety. They are thinnable with water and the Thinner thins while it extends drying time. Can be thickened by letting the paint dry a bit on the palette; texture can be like the liners.Dry time is fairly quick; similar to acrylics.Easily cleaned with water.Mistakes can be scraped off or removed w/ water (if quick).CONsAlmost all of the colors require building up to create opacity (takes time and uses a lot of product). My Anthracite Black wanted to bubble so I had to sand it and it never really got smooth. There isn't really a basic green available; closest is Emerald Green (all others lean towards yellow).Mixing with Ivory causes the gloss to dull (good thing I bought the gloss medium). It would better to have English instructions for use on the bottles.

Great Product, fast safe delivery so I can keep working!

The paint arrived quickly and in great shape! These paints are hard to find, and they are the only paints that are really durable enough, and bright enough, for the work I like to do. I'm especially happy that they continue to offer an expanding pallet of colors to choose from, so there's always something new to try.
Great paint but poor color mixing flexibility
from Burlington, VT
I use Pebeo to paint coffee and latte mugs for resale on several sites. The paint works as marketed for china and porcelain decoration. There is a lot to love! But the big drawback is minimal flexibility for color mixing. Sadly blue and yellow do not produce green. You have to buy green. Green and yellow do not produce yellow-green. You have to buy that too. Nor do blue and red create purple... You get the idea. For some reason the properties of the paint -- in any combination -- create lots of browns. So you need to buy all the colors you will use. Except brown. You'll end up with lots and lots of that.
Durable and scratch-resistant; streaky, dries too quickly.
After testing the other popular "craft store" brands for glass/ceramic paint, I found Pebeo Porcelaine to be the most durable in its class and a step above the rest. It has a very hard and glossy finish when cured (baked) and very good scratch resistance. This is the only glass paint of its kind that can be airbrushed with durable results, since the others cannot be diluted to the degree that you need for optimal airbrushing, even using their brand of fluid medium (if available.) However, do not make the mistake I did and cure your painted items in a toaster oven; the items will be too close to the heating elements and will yellow. It must be cured in a regular oven. To cure the paint properly, I highly recommend using an oven thermometer to check the accuracy of your oven. I discovered that my oven runs 65 degrees hot and would certainly have scorched my painted projects if I hadn't checked for accuracy first.I had a lot of technical questions regarding this paint and contacted Pebeo customer service multiple times. While they took a while to get back to me, they were very helpful and provided excellent additional information for using Pebeo Porcelaine. I highly recommend contacting their customer service to get their "Helpful Tips" PDF for using this paint. As much as I wanted to use this paint for my glass sculptures, I found that in the end I had to change to a different brand (acrylic gloss enamel.) The reason for this was that I just could not smooth out brush strokes or blend it without streaks, no matter what brush or application technique I used. It dries insanely fast, even with thinner and other mediums added, which do not increase open time for blending. This is a resin-based paint, which handles very differently from acrylic-based paints. If you intend to use this for decorative arts and don't mind brush strokes or streaks, this paint is an excellent choice, though costlier than other craft store options.
