Welcome to dickblick
Pearl Paperclay is like the original Creative Paperclay, but is heavier, firmer, not quite as easy to carve, and slightly less durable. It's also more economical for classroom use.
It air hardens in one to three days, and it can be oven baked to speed drying. Its surface is white, and dries to a matte finish. Once dry, pieces can be finished with any kind of paint or markers.
Pearl Paperclay is soft and moist, easy to model and mold. Non-toxic. 16 oz (454 g) bag.

Comments about Pearl Paperclay:
I tried the pearl paperclay in place of the more expensive product. I took a chance and bought 4 packages. This product actually worked much better for me. It dried very smooth. Painted nicely and I didn't get a lot of cracks.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I didn't like this clay at all. It's hard to work with and cracks easily when it dries. I've worked with many different kinds including self made and have never had the amount of problems blending, adding pieces or cracking that I had with this clay. I won't purchase it again.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Will use again
from San Francisco, CA
I used this paper clay for my students grades 2-5. The clay is a little difficult to manipulate for small hands/young fingers because it is a little hard to knead. When working the clay it seems to dry quickly but a few squirts of water kept it pliable. Otherwise when the pieces are drying the clay dries with out cracking. The kids love working with clay though so I will definitely use again. Price for one pound can't be beat and the quality is great.

works well for doll making
I love this product because I can ''build up'' shapes without having to bake it. It's easy to sand and is durable. I often have several projects I'm working on at a time and this paper clay works well for this.

Best for The Price
I have used many different 'Air Dry Paper Clays' over the years and have really been pleased with the 'Pearl Paperclay' in my sculpting projects and is reasonably priced. Paints up nice, does sometimes crack in drying process, but this happens with many of the paperclays. Patching is easy, just wet your finger add a pinch of the clay and work into crack. Sands nice, but really I just rub the dried item with a damp cloth and in a hour or 2 is ready to paint. Will continue using this product for my sculpting projects.

Really like this stuff!
By The Art Lady

I really like this paper clay, the only reason I can't say it is the best in its category is that I have not used every paper clay out there. We made small sculptures out of this in grades 1-12. This stuff is easy to use, easy to attach one piece to another, holds details well, has a smooth finish and dries hard. We added food coloring to some of the clay and made nice marbled colors which was a nice alternative to painting after drying. The biggest drawback on this material is the small size packaging. I would like to see this available in bulk.
