The pen's appearance is déclassé. Multicolor sparkles unappealing.

The nibs are difficult to get to flow. The broad nib never did write. The nibs dry out overnight in a closed pen. I've noticed this in the new Schaeffer pens as well. Both Panache and Schaeffer have abandoned the screw on system with push-one, which doesn't seem to work.

One cannot write or print quickly or the flow becomes sporadic leaving very ugly, sloppy looking lettering. One must stroke very slowly to maintain ink flow.

Medium nib worked well. I was never able to make the broad nib feed ink and eventually gave up. Will probably not order Panache again.

I use this as an integral part of my compositional process. Fountain pens are perfect because the ease of ink flow means you can write for hours without wrist strain. This calligraphy set has many fine nibs with which I can write highly legible, even beautifully looking music.

My only complaint comes from the aesthetic of the pens themselves. They look cheap, with their plastic barrels of pinkish-burgundy and blue imbued with glittery flecks. They look cheap, and even effeminate, which has given me a few raised eyebrows in rehearsals and collaborative settings. Furthermore, because the barrels and caps are plastic, they are subject to cracking should they be put under unintentional pressure on the barrel or cap. Minor and to be expected, but an eventuality if they ever leave the desk.

Lastly, I wish all calligraphy pens came with more barrels. Most sets come with many more nibs than barrels, which presents a problem when a barrel gets lost or cracks. Personally, the only time I buy new sets is when the pen falls from my pocket in a public place and I'm out of barrels. I have a high surplus of nibs at the moment. But all manufacturers do this; my complaint is against the industry.

Love the nib width selection in the master set. Also the reasonably priced 6 colors available in pre-filled cartridges. Another boon is the refillable cartridge for your custom color! This pen has the best flow and ease of use compared to others with the same barrel & nib configuration. Use for fine art finish calligraphy as well as casual letter/card writing, and lettering for reproduction (wedding invitations, announcements, etc.). An affordable, comfortable, nice all around lettering set. Wish I had found this sooner!
