Comments about Old-Time Denim Apron:
This apron gives great coverage while working at the pottery wheel. The only draw back to me is it's length. I'm 5'2" tall so it's quite long on me. I'd also prefer a wider/heavier hem at the bottom so it doesn't curl up after laundering.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

i'm pretty messy when i paint. i can't seem to touch a tube or can of paint without getting it all over myself. i'm also spontaneous so i don't always want to change into my 'painting clothes' when i get an idea. this apron solves my problem very nicely. i'm 6'2" so most smocks and aprons are too short for me. this one comes down below my knees and it is very heavy duty. of course if you're shorter it'd be super easy to hem it up. i've seen aprons at twice the price that aren't nearly as nice. this is a great apron at a fantastic price. so if you're a little messy, like i am, may i highly recommend this apron.
Most of the time I feel really good about the purchases made for products purchased from Blick. I do a lot of ordering for my classroom through them. The apron will serve its purpose to keep clothes clean but it was a big disappointment cosmetically. It looks slapped together, with lots of raw edges. Should have bought elsewhere but wanted to test these out in hopes of purchasing more for the classroom.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Durable Denim Painter's Apron
By Painters friend

We expect the old time apron to save us a ton of money on clothing. Our passionate painter ends up with dobs of paint on most of his clothing. The apron is made of hardy material and long enough to cover all the way to the end of the pant leg. Our only complaint is that the neck strap is not adjustable and extremely long. We are going to shorten it.
Very long apron

I'm 5'8" and I found the apron a little longer for me. The fabric is a little stiffer than I would have liked. But that being said, it is a terrific value and I decided to use it when I cut wood as it completely covers my body. The other thing I wish it had was an adjustable neck.

Good Value - Could use tweaking

We like the full coverage of this apron. Nice length. What doesn't show in the photo is that the apron edges are sewn flat with a zig-zag closure so that the denim won't ravel; it is not hemmed. Actually looks pretty good and especially masculine or utilitarian. Purchased it for my husband to wear when he serves soup at a homeless soup kitchen. It is heavy enough to withstand hard wear and should soften with washing as it is stiff on arrival. It would be good as a woodworking, gardening, or cooking apron. The neck strap is overly long to allow him to get it over his head so the bib portion flopped down too low to be useful. Immediately on receiving it I cut the neck strap, sewed two metal rings at the bib end so the neck strap is now totally adjustable by running the strap through one and back into the other ring. Such an easy solution you would think it would have been included. The waist straps are too short to tie the apron in front which hubby prefers and too short to allow him to tuck a towel into the waist straps (and he has a 32 inch waist). The waist straps need to be about a foot longer each to use as a front tie. The pockets are a plus and will be useful for carrying a pen, glasses, etc. About worth what I paid for it.
Great quality, great price
I was looking for a sturdy work apron for crafts, art, and other projects. After I saw another reviewer's comments about the size of the apron for smaller people, I wasn't sure it would work. But, being that I'm a creative person, I figured I could think of a way to make it work. The apron is top quality and I can tell it will last through many years of projects. The straps are excessively long for an average or small woman, but I attached some snaps and made it work just fine. All in all, a solid value and a quality product.

Adequate for the task
from Brooklyn, New York
If you want a very very basic denim coverup to keep paint off your clothes, this is a good choice--but don't be too petite a person! The weakness of this apron is the length of the top strap--it needs to be adjustable in order to work for a smaller person. I'm 5'3" and only 90 lbs. It sits WAY TOO LOW to cover the upper body and cannot easily be raised. On a small person, the way the strap falls, the top will fall below the chest. I had to struggle to put a knot at the top to make it higher up so it would protect my clothes. As is, it is not good for someone less than 150 lbs or shorter than 5'7". It needs adjustable top strap. For the price, I guess it's acceptable because you kinda get what you pay for--but WATCH OUT if you are a smaller person!
