New Masters Classic Acrylics are the realization of a dream held by Professor Theo de Beer, Old Holland's late owner, to develop a line of acrylics and acrylic mediums that would be used today by the "New Masters" of art, just as Old Holland oil paints were used by the Old Masters.
This line was developed specifically to complement Old Holland's existing oil and watercolor ranges, yet incorporate the finest new pigments available today. A pure acrylic binder sourced from a "boutique" European manufacturer, while more costly, imparts a unique characteristic to these paints, ensuring excellent adhesion, color retention, and working properties.
The combination of high pigment load and a proprietary binding system results in colors that uniquely exhibit the characteristics of the individual pigments. They dry to a satin gloss and offer minimum brush drag, making them ideal for a variety of techniques, from high-build impasto to ultra-thin glazing.
Other hallmarks of the New Masters line include the absence of extenders or fillers and minimal wet-dry color shift. Plus, they're virtually indistinguishable in color strength, brilliance, and intensity from the oil color range that is the basis of the Old Holland heritage.
Extensive development, consultation with professional artists, and years of field trials have resulted in a selection of opaque and transparent colors that include a range of metallic, pearlescent, iridescent, and interference colors.

Among the best heavy-bodied acrylics, but with a catch
If you like thick, creamy and buttery paint, this is it. You can make it stand very high on the canvas, just like other paints mixed in with a high solid gel. The colors are among the most intense I've ever seen, especially in regards to the (pre-mixed) iridescent ones. Unfortunately, several of my paints have hardened/"dried up" in the tube within 1-2 years of opening/usage. It's possible to get them somewhat close to being the wonderful buttery paint as it's supposed to be after this, but it most often creates a watery mess. I'll probably have to experiment on this more so I can salvage more of the paint, but word of warning: you should use them up fast before they can harden.
I will be buying more of this product

I had heard good things about Old Holland acrylics and decided to buy some to try. I've only begun to use it and love the consistency of this paint. It mixes nicely, without the separation or grainy texture I've found in other brands. It works well for me but every artist finds their own.

Liberty and freedom
Love the amazing colors. I've used other lines but these are in a league all their own. As other reviews mentioned there is an issue from time to time with the paint hardening in the tube somewhat but I have found Blick very willing to replace any bad tubes

I love the Old Holland Acrylic paints. They have a wonderful assortment of colors and the paint itself is juicy and easy to work with.

A "New" Acrylic

I'm more of an oil painter, but have been experimenting with acrylics in the last few paintings. These acrylics are unlike any I've tried before. The consistency is more like a thinner oil paint and the silky texture reminds me of Michael Harding oils. The color intensity is excellent. I'll definitely be adding new colors from this line. They're worth the extra few dollars!
Love Old Holland oils and acrylics
from Macon, Ga.
I have used Old Holland oils for years, there are some I haven't tried just because of the expense, but maybe one day! I ordered the acrylic because of how much I love the oils, so I do expect the quality to be very high.
I have had some unusable colors from this range, Naples Yellow Extra and Titanium Buff Deep in 250ml purchasedfrom Blick and Titanium Extra opaque from anther retailer. Blick sent a replacement for the Naples but it is bad too. The Buff Titanium deep has become equally unusable. I added pics of the two Bought here. Old Holland seems to be trading on its reputation from its other ranges (my primary oil) but the acrylics have problems. People need to identify the colors that are at issue not only to educate other artists but also to force OH to get it right.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pluses and minuses
Used Old Holland oils switched to acrylic Used golden and Utrecht brand and was generally pleased with Utrecht Though advertised as similar to OH oils the new masters OH acrylic is much thinner. Does not cover as well. The upside is once again the subtle but profound unmatched beauty of colors. If you're at a place in your work where you can utilize these gorgeous tones to me on that ground they truly stand alone. A little slower to dry I see these as last sitting final layer paint. Fun to use

GOOD, Almost great

I have left reviews on this product in the past. This is an additional comment, after many years of use. I love the paint, but I hate the fact that it goes bad in the tube in a relatively short time. It is a wonderful paint. It comes with perfect viscosity when initially purchased. The high pigment load makes the paint go a long way. I use this brand every day, and have been doing so for 10 years. The one and only gripe I have is that this paint will harden in the tube within one to three years depending upon the color. Some will harden in one year. Other colors will last in the creamy state indefinitely. I have wasted a great deal of this paint because it will not stay in its creamy state. In my opinion, this precludes use by the hobbyist. You must use this paint before it goes bad. That is a lot of paint to use in one year!
