Welcome to dickblick
Old Holland has been making artist colors since 1664, making it one of the oldest continuously operating companies in the art supplies industry. The company is known for uncompromising adherance to traditional techniques and standards.
All color making is done by hand, and all processes are controlled by artists. Pigments are ground in stone rather than metal rollers.
Old Holland Oils are produced according to traditional recipes, those used for paintings made in the 17th century. These paintings retain the clarity of their colors to this day. That's durability.
Like hundreds of years ago, only the best pigments and binders are used to produce very concentrated and light-fast paint, resulting in higher color strength, hiding power, and intensity. That goes for all 168 colors listed here.
Only cold-pressed linseed oil from the first pressing is used for the binder. This optimizes oxidation (drying) of the paint and also promotes permanence. The brush strokes flow out better too.

Best Pigment Load
By Julia Haw

Comments about Old Holland Classic Oil Colors:
Old Holland Paints are PREMIUM. Due to the high pigment load you definitely get your bang for your buck as they last a long time. They are rich, highly saturated and top of the line.

Top quality product.

Cost is a factor as Old Holland is expensive. Nonetheless, the high amount of pigmentation comes in very handy at times and allows the paint to go further than any other,
I buy this product often

Old Holland paints are expensive, but they are worth the extra cost. They are super smooth and the colors are beautiful and vibrant. The thing I like best about them is that they are so easy to mix, I can get exactly the colors, shades or tints I need so easily without them becoming "muddy". Brushwork is superior due to the consistency and creaminess of the paint.

Far and away the very best!
from Canton, MI
With the only downfall being their price tags, Old Holland are the best paints on the market, hands down. Any professional oil painter will tell you that. I love them for their thick creaminess, smooth consostency, and excellent tinting strength.
In my opinion, these are the best oils out there.

I use these paints for palette knife work and for brush work.
This order was for Old Holland oil paints. I've been using them for years and love the colors and texture in my paintings. As usual, the ordering process was seamless.
Old Holland the holy
Well, what can I really say about the oil colors that make up the greater portion of my palette? They are absolutely amazing. The higher priced products deliver so well that the trust for the brand grows even stronger. I am very surely furthering into transferring into Old Holland's oil colors of all kind and color. They all deliver great luminosity, brightness, color consistency, and all that is expected of oil colors of this higher quality. Absolute love goes towards them.
I believe these are the best of the best!

I use the Old Holland oil paints for painting wooden birds. I am not a great carver and I am really not a great painter. However I think it is foolish not to use the best paints I can buy after I spend so much time and effort in the carving. You never have to be the least bit concerned about the paint because it is the same great quality and color every time.
simply the best!

I am an amateur oil painter but I still want a quality paint for my work. Old Holland is what my teacher (a professional artist) uses and he recommended it. It is hard to go back to cheaper paints after you try Old Holland. You need very little to do the job since it is so rich in pigment. Texture and color are both superior to other brands, You can't go wrong!
Nice, brilliant color. spreads just right.
