Welcome to dickblick
Old Holland has been making artist colors since 1664, making it one of the oldest continuously operating companies in the art supplies industry. The company is known for uncompromising adherance to traditional techniques and standards.
All color making is done by hand, and all processes are controlled by artists. Pigments are ground in stone rather than metal rollers.
Old Holland Oils are produced according to traditional recipes, those used for paintings made in the 17th century. These paintings retain the clarity of their colors to this day. That's durability.
Like hundreds of years ago, only the best pigments and binders are used to produce very concentrated and light-fast paint, resulting in higher color strength, hiding power, and intensity. That goes for all 168 colors listed here.
Only cold-pressed linseed oil from the first pressing is used for the binder. This optimizes oxidation (drying) of the paint and also promotes permanence. The brush strokes flow out better too.

Old Holland oil paints have the most concentrated pigment content of any brands of paint that I have tried. It costs more, but you need to use less to get vibrant color. This paint has made such a difference in my painting that I am more motivated to paint more. I completely changed my regular palette for Old Holland.
The Best Paint Ever
By Doxie Lover

I love the Old Holland paints, although expensive, they are worth the cost to me. I find I don't waste any of the paint because of the price. But they are so vibrant, the colors mix better without becoming "muddy", but the best part is that they are so creamy. They flow onto the canvas so well, even without medium. I do portraits, so this is the absolute best paint for them.
I really like Old Holland's selection of ochers, umbers, and siennas. They produce subtly nuanced variations in value and hue that cannot be found in any other brand.
Consistently the best

Top of the line
By Illuminated Rosie
If you are going to paint seriously, you might as well use the finest paints you can. You never knew if this painting will be your masterpiece. So I decided to use the best I could find and that was Old Holland. I'm sure there are many other paints on the market now that are great but Old Holland has passed the test of time.
Old Holland Oils
One of my favorites

Old Holland Magenta is one of the most saturated, pure pigments out there. My last tube lasted five years with heavy use--it doesn't take much. After I ran out of it and tried other brands, it became clear to me that nothing else comes close. It's worth every cent.
