Nylon is ideal for slicing and cutting lump clay, as well as trimming pots and other projects on the wheel.
The nylon clay cutter is more durable than a wire cutter, and the nylon will not rust or discolor.
Two 3" hardwood toggle handles are firmly fastened to approximately 18" of high-strength braided nylon.

Strong dull knots

Comments about Nylon Clay Cutter:
I have used these for just a short time, but have a few comments to make. I love the fact that they hang nicely without twisting and getting kinked, however they do knot. They don't cut as sharply as their wire counterparts, so you need to leave just a little extra clay on the bottoms. They also stain easily so get one for porcelain and one for dark clays. They seem strong but I haven't used them long enough to say how long they last.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Not sturday enough for my use
from Upstate New York
I bought two of these and one broke on my first use. The string broke under the stress of cutting though a large block of redstone clay. A wire cutter worked much better. The nylon cutter works well enough for cutting off smaller chunks, but I needed large slabs and the force required to cut through the clay was too much for the string. Pieces of clay also tend to stick to the string more than they do with a wire. Nylon is easier on the hands and fingers, but I would stick with wire for large blocks of clay.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Better than wire . . .
from New York City
I think this works better than the wire clay cutter because it is shorter and I have a better grip on it. It also is soft and flexible and stores better than the awkward wire cutter in my pottery tool kit. Cleans up nicely, and all in all, is a great addition (and replacement for my wire cutter) to my pottery tools! Can't think of anything negative to say about it at all!

No absentminded finger slices
This works very well to cut clay. So far, I haven't used it a lot, but it seems to work just as well as a wire clay cutter. I've often absentmindedly wrapped the wire around a finger or two (even though I know I shouldn't) when cutting a big slice of clay, and that really can hurt. The nylon is much more forgiving. A nice addition to my tool kit.

I enjoy using this nylon clay cutter to cut newly thrown pieces from the bat immediately after throwing and then again when I am ready to move the somewhat hardened piece off the bat. It is shorter than most wire cutters and therefore easier to contol. The thickness seems to make the piece release easier and the pot lifters fit easily under the pot. The clay rinses off the braided nylon eliminating dust on the tool. Another plus is that it doesn't cut your hand as wire and "fishing line" cutters do.
