This cold press, 80 lb all purpose illustration board has a medium tooth surface, with a brilliant white front surface, newsboard middle, and tan backing. It will not warp or bow, making it ideal for both wet and dry media, including charcoal, crayon, pencil, and watercolor.
Nielsen Bainbridge art boards are favorites of artists, engineers, and designers.

Not as nice as the old boards

Comments about Nielsen Bainbridge Cold Press Illustration Board:
I have been using this cold press board with pen and ink and Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache to paint coats of arms. The board used to be thicker. I don't know when the thickness changed, because I was away from painting for many years. In the 1960-1970s it could be relied on not to warp or bend. (I still have a couple of the old boards.) Returning to painting a year ago, I found that the new boards warp - won't even stay flat on the drawing board with drafting tape. Now I'm worried about getting my work framed, hoping the warping won't affect the result. Some other boards, such as Cresent 100.3, are thicker but are creamy white, and I like the Bainbridge board because it is a bright white. So, for me, Bainbridge is still best in its category despite the warping.

A good solid product
I use watercolor on this board to get interesting textures. Ten years ago (or less) it was a heavier product. I preferred that, but this year's "model" still works better than similar products.

Love this illustration board

I have not been able to find a better price on comparable illustration boards. I cut the 15x20" sheets into smaller sizes for illustrating pages of comics and graphic novels. It takes mixed media well -- with a soft, textured top layer which leaves a textured-looking mark (if that is what you're looking for).My Dick Blick order was FedEx-ed to me in Canada (shipping was costly, but was offset by the great prices of the products) and delivered in a better than expected timely manner.

Living in a rural area in Iowa, I could not find a retail store that had the Illustration board I wanted for my artwork. Shopping online, i found the Nielson Bainbridge Cold Press Illustration board that I have come to rely on for top quality results for the past 30 years. They were delivered a couple days after ordering them and the cost was actually cheaper than it would have been if I had to drive an hour to the nearest city with an art supply store.

Professional illustration board I've used with gesso, gouache and acrylic. Seems a little thinner than expected, but not a problem. Showed up quickly and in good shape.
Bainbridge-- Versatile as it gets

I've been using Bainbridge 80 R illustration board for the past 15 years. Before that I used 90R but can no longer find it. I believe the "R" stands for rough or toothy. The "S" in their series stands for smooth. Watercolors, pen and ink, acrylics and colored pencil all work well on the "R" board. Where it really shines though is when an artist is using magic markers. Many papers/boards will bleed out from your initial color stroke but the tooth in the 80R really hangs onto the color and bleeding is rarely an issue. Bainbridge makes a consistent surface and for as many years as I've been using it, I can't recall one time in which I got a bad batch or was upset with a blemish when the board was new. Most artists will do well with this board for almost all of your art projects.

did not meet expectation
from Atlanta, GA
thinner than usual. I use Bainbridge board to create colour pencil artwork, always a reliable product, however, in this case, I received inferior product. (In a separate order, I paid more for delivery than for 1 board, which was damaged! I had ordered and paid delivery for 5 items but only rcvd 1 and was told, after I already paid, that you only had one left.) The smaller boards were simply the larger ones cut in half with edges left rough and uneven. Very unprofessional and unacceptable. I will not order from you guys ever again!
