Now it's easy to bring the classic presence of custom wood frames to your artwork with these Ayous Wood Frame Kits. They are crafted of imported Italian woods and designed with a contemporary flat top profile for an attractive gallery look. The perfect depth for framing canvas, photographs, posters, or other artwork.
Kit includes one pair of wood sections and two plastic wedges. Choose two kits to create the custom frame you need. Easy assembly, no tools required.
Dimensions for the Nielsen Bainbridge Ayous Wood Frame Kits are as follows:
Frame Depth — The depth of a frame refers to the depth of the frame's rabbet (the cut-out area behind the frame's molding that holds your artwork in place). To find a frame that will accommodate your artwork, measure the depth of the artwork, including any matting or mounting materials, and order a frame with a depth that is, at a minimum, the same as that measured depth.
Frame Dimensions — Frames are sized by the opening, not by the outside of the molding. To determine the size of frame to order, measure the outside of your artwork, including mat, and order that size frame. The frame will overlap your artwork ¼" all the way around, so your artwork will fit nicely behind the frame's molding.

Don't Buy This Frame
from New Jersey
Comments about Nielsen Bainbridge Ayous Wood Frame Kits:
The frame is so light, it feels like it's made of balsa wood. Little chips came off the corner while I was putting it together. Not worth the money at all. This is the 2nd frame i bought from Nelson Bainbridge that I was very disappointed with. I could have bought a nice frame from a local professional framer for what this one cost.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The Perfect Solution!
By Linnie Seed

These frames are super easy to assemble, look good, and are reasonably priced. They are great for matted works on paper that may not be standard sizes because you can customize the dimensions to fit anything. If you can work a Dexter mat cutter, then you've got a gallery presentation. I've only used the natural wood, not the black, and not for canvases. I'm very happy with the product and will continue to purchase them.

Good and bad
from Houston, TX
These frames look good. I use them on a regular basis, but there are some things one must know beforehand. I have ruined 10% of them not being extra careful. The assembly is a little tricky. Beware that the material is a very soft wood. The outer finish is an applied wrapped coating, I suspect to insure a uniform finish. The corners do not come together very well. When you assemble, lay flat, face down. Make sure the countertop is completely clean of debris. A perfectly smooth flat work surface is paramount. Use a small amount of wood glue on the corners. Too much causes it to ooze out onto the face of the frame. Clean off as soon as possible with a slightly damp cloth. If the glue dries, it remains. You will not be able to clean it off if it dries. If you lay it down on a hard surface and assemble by pounding corner keys into the slots, you run the risk of denting the front surface, if there is any debris on the countertop. A tiny speck of grit can cause a dent in the surface of the frame. The frame material is very soft! Just be aware of this issue. Also, once the keys are inserted fully, you will not be able to take it out and correct the assembly.

I used Neilson Banbridge Framing Kits for last minute frames for my odd sized oil canvas paintings. Not only was the choices of sizes convenient but the wood finish was so well done that I don't think I would use any other product. It was too late and time pressed to be able to glue them at the corners so I thought we could just put the back corner stays in, 3 per corner, temporarily. Voila! No gaps were visible and the structure was solid as is. (I will glue them after the show)

great for photography , very clean and solid frame with nice hardware.
Do not order the black paint.
from Pittsburgh, PA
Paint chips extremely easily. While I had great luck with the plain wood, the black paint comes off like old nailpolish. They also did not quite align properly. I'll be sanding and refinishing this, but that defeats the purpose of easy assembled frames.

Over priced and hard to put together - frame kit
from Sonoma County, CA.
This frame kit is just ok. It has 4 pieces plus the 4 pegs that you put together. It is not easy and one needs to be very careful or it will not look good or be correct when you are done. I think it is overpriced since one has to go to a lot of work to get it fitted properly together.
Great Item, Prompt shipment

Item worked out wonderfully for irregularly sized painting
Low quality workmanship
By Doctor Art

Ordered a number of Nielson Bainbridge frames in black and found that the black paint was chipped off in many spots and when assembling them even more paint would chip off of their edges. I had to match acrylic paint to the black used on the frames and touch up every one. Another problem was in the cutting on some of the frame's corners. A few did not line up properly causing gaps between the 45 degree angles which also had to be filled with wood filler and painted over.
Merchant response: We apologize for the issues you had with the finish on these frame sections. One of our Customer Care Agents will be reaching out to see what we can do to help.
