Now it's easy to bring the classic presence of custom wood frames to your artwork with these Ayous Wood Frame Kits. They are crafted of imported Italian woods and designed with a contemporary flat top profile for an attractive gallery look. The perfect depth for framing canvas, photographs, posters, or other artwork.
Kit includes one pair of wood sections and two plastic wedges. Choose two kits to create the custom frame you need. Easy assembly, no tools required.
Dimensions for the Nielsen Bainbridge Ayous Wood Frame Kits are as follows:
Frame Depth — The depth of a frame refers to the depth of the frame's rabbet (the cut-out area behind the frame's molding that holds your artwork in place). To find a frame that will accommodate your artwork, measure the depth of the artwork, including any matting or mounting materials, and order a frame with a depth that is, at a minimum, the same as that measured depth.
Frame Dimensions — Frames are sized by the opening, not by the outside of the molding. To determine the size of frame to order, measure the outside of your artwork, including mat, and order that size frame. The frame will overlap your artwork ¼" all the way around, so your artwork will fit nicely behind the frame's molding.

Works but a little pricy, a few warped.
from Palo Alto, CA
These work nicely but are a little expensive. I purchased a number of these for some shows and open studios. I would recommend the natural over the black because they do not fit perfect and the imperfections are noticeable in the black. I have had a few that are warped particularly the, longer ones 20 - 24 inches, and it is nearly impossible to get the frame completely flat when one length is warped. I would just barely recommend for their ease of use and range of lengths.
Economical, nicely made, easy to assemble
from Santa Rosa, CA
Nicely milled corners make for good connections. As the title says, these are inexpensive, they look good, and they're easy to put together. My only complaint is that there aren't more styles.
Perfect. This is my go to frame for all my odd sized prints

These frame sets are well crafted, solid, go together easily, and fit my need for framing unusual sized pastels.
Easy to put together and it makes a great frame.
Very helpful and informative clerk
from Queens, NY
I like to shop Blick even though it's so far from my home, because the clerks are so knowledgeable and helpful. A clerk named Stephanie took extensive time with me to review all my framing options and helped me select the Ayous frames. She even explained how to assemble them and fix the canvas into the frame. I am very satisfied with the appearance of the frames, and I will certainly buy them again at Blick.
This is a great product for giving a pro finish to framing.

Not worth the money
I purchased 6 sets, for 3 frames as a gift for my Mom's birthday, to frame 3 pieces of artwork. Initially, I was pleased with the look and quality, but quickly noticed a scratch on one piece and later found that 2 or 3 chips had occurred while I was working at putting them together. The finish on these is very brittle - I handled them with kid gloves, placing them on a large folded towel and being gentle as I tapped the connectors home, in the corners. All my care notwithstanding, two chips occurred at the corners, where the mitres meet and one appeared on a front edge. I use the passive voice because I was very careful and cannot tell where they came from. The other problem was that the corners did not mate up very well - on one of them it is unacceptably off and on one other it is slight. One was a good mate, though it got a chip off of the corner when the connector was tapped home, from the pressure of the joint.. All of them require touching up the mitres with black ink, as they are not tight and the outer corners, as well, all show the light colored wood to some degree. That I could live with, nothing is perfect ! But the extreme gap and crookedness on the one frame, I cannot. And you have to glue the joint and dog down the connecting pieces before you can tell they will be wrong - and then there is no way to pull out the piece and rearrange them to see if another angle would work better. On the whole, for about 100.00 dollars, I got 2 okay frames and one unusable frame. I am not happy about it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
