Welcome to dickblick
This Mosaic Stone Cement is ideal for use with outdoor projects such as mosaic stepping stones, tables, benches, and more. The super strong, crack-resistant formula stands up to the harshest weather.
With a high pigment load, it dries to a smooth, porcelain white finish. Best of all, it requires no sealant.

Requires a lot more water than directions indicate

Comments about FlashCrete Mosaic Stone Cement for Outdoor Projects:
I have used this cement for 3 years in teaching a mosaic class and have had lots of problems. It takes 12 hours to set and then there were many of the 12 stones from each class that had large air holes around the sides and crumbled at the rounded corners. Many of them cracked I used to use a product that required 1 hour to set up, and had excellent results, but this new and improved product that requires 12 hours is very inconsistent in the results.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Although the consistency of this cement may be thicker than you expected, the manufacturer's recommendation for the amount of water to use is correct. Adding more water will make the product cure brittle and will cause several problems as you describe. Not so great
Description provided doesn't give you an idea of how many stones you can make. Unfortunately I was only able to make one 14" round stone with a little leftover. Followed the directions exactly and the glass and stones I used were absorbed fully into the cement so only a tiny fraction shows. So now I have a practically blank stone… On the positive, the texture is nice and the color is a soft gray which allows the stones to contrast and pop (if they were fully visible).
Merchant response: For better success with your project, try using contact paper, sticky side up, in the bottom of the mold. Place the glass an stones on the contact paper, and the adhesive will keep them from floating into the cement. Just peel the contact paper back off after you demold. Our Product Information team would be happy to speak with you to see if we may be of any additional assistance.
