Comments about Montana Black Paint Marker Empty Markers and Replacement Nibs:
I've been a Molotow fan for a long time. Decided to try Montana because the nibs looked different, and whoa! I LOVE these! I bought emptiy markers--three 10mm chisels, three 3mm chisels, and a 10mm crusher. They are all brilliant, and the crusher is, for my use, better than the Molotow drip stick that I recently destroyed on the rough wood on which I paint. Am now a happy user of both Molotow and Montana! :)

I use paint markers as my primary art tools. I've tried pretty much everything out there, and most of it is low quality, although the graff companies make a much better product than Sharpie for example. What I've come up with is using these empty markers and filling them with Golden High Flow Acrylic, also available through Dick Blick, which is a top notch paint and higher quality than a pre-loaded paint. Also you have more control over the color. The thing to look for with a paint marker is the nib quality, which comes down to the consistency of the paint flow and durability of the tip. A lot of markers clog up quickly at the nib. These nibs have great flow and they last a long time, compared to all other options. The chisel tip is superb, you get a really fine line and a nice thick line with the same point. It's the only durable chisel tip I've come across. I do a lot of fine line work in my paintings and I keep one chisel for fine work and one for larger lines. The fat tips are good options too and also hold together well, and are great for fills. Great for those with a drawing background who want a more painterly look, illustrators, painters looking for a detail tool, and etc. I've used them in the studio and outdoors on murals. An excellent tool.

Fabulous Complicated tool!

Great tool. Fill with fluid acrylic, ink or airbrush paint and go all day on paper or canvas.HOWEVER, it is a complicated tool. I want Montana to include DIRECTIONS for assembly and care.

Chiesel nib is perfect for art
from Helsinki, Finland
Montana's refillable marker works very well with Golden's high flow acrylics. With chisel nib's tip you can draw accurate slightly thinner lines and with full nib you can paint larger areas. This nib has good capabilities for artistic expression. The marker itself can be disassembled to smallest part, although I'm not sure if you can find replacement parts anywhere...

Thick plastic shells for paint and ink. Valve system prevents leakage from the nib, but screw cap is just blah. Only used in a studio environment, one of them with a firmly tightened cap still leaked Montana paint ink. And no, I did not fill the whole marker, only about half way. It works but not as well as I had hoped. Montana dye ink dries and looks boring on canvas where as Montana paint ink dries thick and looks nicer. These empty markers can house both just fine. I'd definitely recomend filling them with paint ink for canvas work. Last note...the colored dye inks just are too opaque for my tastes on any surface!
