Comments about Speedball Imitation Gold Leaf:
Great for adding that additional layer of pop to acrylic paintings, or for decorating frames and household objects. I find this one easy to work with and lay down.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good choice for metal leaf
I looked and tried a different brand of gold imitation leaf, and it did not glisten like the Mona Lisa brand. Unless I switch to real gold, I won't be straying from the Mona Lisa product line.

We did a project with Illuminated letters. The kids loved using it and it was very easy to use. Another class is decorating "Red Envelopes" used for a Chinese New Year theme.
Great product, fantastic price!

Use in mixed media (with hand-made paper). Find it very suitable.

Leafing even simple picture frame profiles is a burdensome task due to the thinness of the product. It also makes it close to impossible to get a smooth unwrinkled finish. Avoid Speedballs metal leaf products and go online for studier versions.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I would previously buy this product in bulk and I used to love it. Now they have not only changed the packaging, but also the leaf itself is different and it is just atrocious. The leaf is so thin now that the static cling from the packaging alone damages it. I have worked with this product for years and had developed excellent methods for handling, but now it's just useless and product waste is inevitable. I keep scraps together, and you can see and feel the difference between the previous leaf, and the new, cheaper leaf.

I use it with the sealer and it makes it shine so brightly I'm very impressed.

New Packaging for Compo Leaf
This new version of the composition leaf I've been using for years behaves just like the leaf I'm used to. This brand is packaged differently though - the previously available brand came in a little cardboard box with the traditional packets of leaf in a simple tissue paper booklet. This brand seems not to be available in multiple booklet packs, and the individual plastic bubble pack and heavy plastic sewn binding of the booklets is unattractive, hard to open, and worse of all, difficult to use.
This demonstration shows the basic technique of leafing with a composition gold leaf as well as the easy-to-use Simple Leaf from Mona Lisa. Both are wonderful for a wide variety of fine art and home applications.
