Gorgeous crystal glazes in a non-toxic formula are ideally suited to schools and institutions. These are unique, magical potions of colors and rock-like crystals that produce dramatic effects when they flow and melt during the firing process.
They are applied to properly fired Cone 04 (1940°F, 1060°C) bisque using a soft fan brush. Crystalites fire at Cone 06 (1830°F, 999°C), but can be fired up to Cone 6 (2165°F-2269°F, 1185°C-1243°C). There's no need to fire the glazes any hotter to make the crystals flow, bloom more, or pattern better. They can be used in glaze combinations with other non-toxic glazes.
Although they are food safe when properly fired, Crystalites may not be practical for food containers due to surface characteristics.

Great fun glazes
Comments about Mayco Crystalite Glazes:
The poppy fields makes a great glaze by itself or as an accent to a dark red or white glaze. The peacock eyes is a pretty blue and white combo.

Glazing on stoneware turns out very well.

When working with clay, sometimes the hardest part is adding a glaze. How much is to much, what colors, do I add any details? The great thing about the Mayco Crystalite Glazes is that you slap it on (number of coat, per direction) and it creates the art for you! When I'm unsure what I want to do, I know what to grab! It's a great product!

I am an art teacher and I love using the crystalite glazes for my students because each and every time they come out different and unique. No firing looks exactly alike because of the speckling properties. I would recommend this to anyone who does ceramics.

Mayco Crystalite Glazes and Jungle Gems
By Taller Gabiza
from Manati Puerto Rico
I make vases and use the crystalites and jungle gem mainly for their interior. They are all very appealing and easy to combine with other colors and glazes. I have several problems that I have to mention. Once in a while Oriental Carmel and Cappuchino Mint come with a few crystals that do not melt so the finished glazed surface is not completely smooth. Lotus Blosson leaves uncovered pin holes no matter what I do, so I have to repaint and fire it again for better results.
creates interesting bright spots.

Shows off best over an underglaze to create an affect. Fired at 04 it works fine.
