I use this for my Golden acrylics. It has saved me a ton of money and stress. This keeps my heavy body paints wet for more than a week and my Golden Opens wet for... Well I have never finished a painting with them dry.

Very much worth the money. Excellent product! I wish I found it years ago.

I started as an oil painter but now use acrylics. I never got used to how fast the paint dried on my paper palette. With a paper palette if I mixed too little paint then my painting dried while I mixed more, and if I mixed too much I ended up having to throw the paint away. What a waste! I tried spraying with water once in a while but it did not work that well. Once the acrylic develops the skin it does not matter how much water you add, it's not going anywhere.
The Sta Wet Palette was a godsend. I can mix my colors in advance and they stay wet. I can take a break if I want to. The paint stays wet for days with the lid closed.
I strongly recommend this for oil painters that are switching to or trying acrylics.

I have been using a smaller version of this Masterson Sta-Wet Palette (which I love) for many years in the classroom and for plein air painting. The larger version will work nice for home use.

my palette is 20 years old. it is 12x12. i put two cracks on the edges, not taking time/care to read the directions. i destroyed the sponge. i wasn't very serious about painting; just playing around. i pulled the palette out when i recently began to paint more seriously w acrylics. i wet a paper towel and place palette paper on top. as long as, i am careful about sealing the lid (which i now know how to do), my paints last and last, even though i have cracked corners. clean up is a breeze and it saves my paint. mine came with thin plastic cups and lids. they were a waste of space; i've discarded them. i say it's one of the artist's tools that's worth every cent. oh yes, the freezer/frig trick is fantastic. simple/sensible. why didn't i think of that?

I lost my palette in my studio for a couple of months and just found it. It had fallen behind an old trunk full of still life materials. The gouache I was using was still workable and moist. This thing really works and will save you throwing out dried paint. I wouldn't use any other. I also got extra sponges but they have
lasted several years. I'd suggest the extra paper for it as well.

The palette in general is fine. However after only a couple of months the lid split leaving it useless. I would not spend that kind of money again for this palette.

Pretty darn cool. The lid is tight and that is what we want, neat paper keeps acrylics moist for later use.
